Emergency repair of Khe Da bridge, temporary suspension of motor vehicles
On December 26, the Department of Construction of Da Nang City issued a notice on the temporary suspension of traffic through Khe Da bridge (in Ha Nha commune) on National Highway 14B. The urgent repair of the bridge deck is to ensure traffic safety after a long time of serious deterioration.
According to Quang Nam Transport Construction Joint Stock Company - the unit directly managing and maintaining this section, the Khe Da bridge surface is currently almost completely damaged. The main cause was determined to be the impact of prolonged heavy rains since the end of October, combined with the high density of heavy trucks carrying sand and ore, causing the previous temporary patchwork measures with cement concrete to no longer be effective. To completely overcome this, the construction unit is required to carry out systematic repair with hot asphalt concrete.
In order to ensure technical requirements and minimize the impact on people's lives, the Department of Construction announced the temporary suspension of motor vehicles across the bridge at night in 2 phases.
Phase 1 takes place from 9:00 p.m. on December 28 to 5:00 a.m. on December 29, 2025; phase 2 from 9:00 p.m. on January 4 to 5:00 a.m. on January 5, 2026.
During this time, cars (except for tractor-trailers and vehicles over 11 tons) are instructed to travel according to the replacement route through DT609B and DT609C routes. Motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles are still allowed to travel normally across the bridge under the regulation of the authorities.
Adding 173 billion VND, opening the western gateway
In early December, the People's Council of Da Nang City approved an additional 173 billion VND from the local budget, raising the total investment of the National Highway 14B Upgrade and Expansion Project from more than 788 billion VND to more than 961 billion VND.

National Highway 14B is a 73km long transportation corridor, connecting Tien Sa port with the Central Highlands provinces. According to Mr. Nguyen Ha Nam - Director of the Department of Construction of Da Nang, the project to upgrade the section through Da Nang has a very large volume of site clearance with 1,082 documents. "Thanks to the efforts of the political system and the consensus of the people, up to now, there are only about 75 outstanding records. It is expected that from now until the end of the year, the units will focus maximum to completely hand over the site to the contractor, Mr. Nam emphasized.

Ms. Tran Thi Xuan Huong (Hoa Vang commune) shared that people are very excited to see the road gradually changing to a more spacious and safe place for children to go to school. Mr. Tran Van Hien, a local resident, expected the construction units to work neatly, speeding up the progress to soon stabilize business.
According to local people, with the combination of emergency repairs to damaged areas and large-scale expansion investment, National Highway 14B is expected to soon become a modern traffic axis, promoting a breakthrough in the city's western economy.
