Right in the first days of the new year of At Ty 2025, the construction site of the Ho Chi Minh road project from Cho Chu, Dinh Hoa district (Thai Nguyen) - Trung Son intersection, Yen Son district (Tuyen Quang) was still bustling with the sound of machines. This Tet, the construction work has not stopped.
Mr. Tran Cong Minh, an excavator operator at the project, said that since the project started (early June 2024) until now, the construction has been carried out in 3 shifts to ensure progress. The terrain is mainly mountainous, so the amount of excavation and filling is very large.
"This Tet, the construction teams will still carry out their work as usual. On the first day of the new year of At Ty, we will still focus on equipment and human resources to lower the hill, create a flat surface, and ensure progress," said Mr. Minh.
The Ho Chi Minh Road project, Cho Chu - Trung Son Intersection, through Tuyen Quang province, passing through Trung Son and Hung Loi communes (Yen Son district), is about 17km long and is being constructed by Son Hai Group. Currently, most of the land has been handed over to the contractor.
As soon as the site was available, the contractor focused on manpower and equipment, divided them into many construction teams, racing to meet the progress. This is considered one of the important components, the final section of the overall Ho Chi Minh Road project.
Informing reporters, Mr. Vo Khac Can - Deputy Commander (Son Hai Group) said that up to now, about 10km of land has been cleared. We are speeding up the construction progress, and we will construct as soon as we have land.
"We have to both remove the roof and lower the roadbed, so the workload is huge. This Tet, the workers and site managers will still take turns working and constructing as usual, working all night, without stopping," Mr. Can informed.
Ho Chi Minh Road construction project, Cho Chu - Trung Son Intersection section, total route length is about 28.98 km with scale and technical standards of grade III mountainous road, design speed 60km/h, roadbed width 9m.
The total investment of the project is 1,665 billion VND, of which the two largest expenditures are compensation, support and resettlement of 419.608 billion VND; the construction cost is 1,014.6 billion VND, invested from the State budget. It is expected that the route will be completed by the end of 2025.
When completed, this trillion-dollar route will create an inter-regional road traffic system. It will promote socio-economic development, tourism, and strengthen national defense and security in Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces in particular and the Northern Midlands and Mountains in general.
In addition, the Cho Chu - Trung Son Intersection section is also important as it is the final "piece" in the Ho Chi Minh Road project, starting at Pac Bo (Cao Bang) and ending at Dat Mui (Ca Mau), with a total length of 3,183km and the goal of opening the route in 2025.
