On May 16, Mr. Le Duc Tien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that he had just received a document from Vietnam Railway Corporation regarding the organization of a pair of trains to serve the travel needs of people and officials when merging the province.
Accordingly, Vietnam Railway Corporation said that currently, passenger trains running through the Dong Hoi (Quang Binh) - Dong Ha (Quang Tri) area are all unified trains on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, so it is not convenient for picking up and dropping off passengers at small stations.
Therefore, the unit proposed to organize the operation of a pair of separate passenger trains with specific schedules as follows: The train departs from Dong Hoi station at 5:10, to Dong Ha station at 7:40, in the opposite direction, the train leaves Dong Ha station at 5:45 p.m., arriving at Dong Hoi station at 8:10 p.m.
The train includes 7 air conditioned soft-seat cars (64 seats/toa) and 1 power carriage, serving a maximum of 448 passengers with an expected ticket price of 184,000 VND/trip (Dong Hoi to Dong Ha or vice versa).
Vietnam Railway Corporation said it will continue to study and coordinate the organization to meet the local proposal after receiving instructions from the People's Committee of Quang Tri province.
"The province has received the document and is considering proposing that the Vietnam Railway Corporation adjust the hours of the two trains, to match the working hours of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers" - Mr. Le Duc Tien said.
Previously, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province sent a document to the Ministry of Construction and Vietnam Railway Corporation on the proposal to adjust the train schedule from Dong Ha (Quang Tri) to Dong Hoi (Quang Binh) and vice versa.
The reason comes from the above proposal, when merging Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces into the new Quang Tri province, the province will be located in Dong Hoi city. When merging, about 1,300 cadres and civil servants will regularly move between the two localities, mainly in the direction of Dong Ha - Dong Hoi.
