According to records, the elevated Ring Road 3 section from Tan Van intersection to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway intersection is being focused on completion by contractors. The 14.7km long route is the eastern highway section of Ho Chi Minh City with the fastest construction progress of the project.
From above, the road clearly appears between urban areas in the East of Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, the section passing through Vinhomes Grand Park area, Long Binh ward, has basically taken shape. The viaduct runs between high-rise buildings, below are existing roads and parallel roads under construction.
Many locations on the route have completed the road surface, median strips, railings and drainage systems. Contractors continue to treat expansion joints and complete auxiliary items to meet operating conditions.
An easily noticeable point on the section passing through the urban area is the noise-resistant wall system. About 7km of elevated road through residential areas and urban areas is installed with about 9,130 noise-resistant panels. According to information from the investor, the system is designed to reduce noise levels to below 70dB.
At the beginning of the route, the Tan Van intersection is being focused on construction. The Ring Road 3 overpass must overcome Hanoi Highway in conditions where vehicles below are still circulating. The contractor uses balanced cantilever casting technology to construct the overpass section, limiting the impact on existing traffic.
According to the construction plan, the overpass at Tan Van intersection is expected to close on September 2. This is one of the important milestones to complete the eastern elevated bridge section, aiming to temporarily open 14.7km of Ring Road 3 through Ho Chi Minh City from September 30.
On many sections, the road surface has been paved with asphalt concrete. The route uses a hollow asphalt road surface to increase drainage capacity when it rains, limiting water stagnation on the bridge surface. In the initial phase, the main route is invested with 4 lanes. The road surface width is about 21.5m in sections with emergency stop lanes and 19.5m in the remaining sections.
Towards the end of the route, the viaduct is heading towards the intersection with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, connecting to Nhon Trach bridge. The access branches in this area continue to be completed to ensure connection between Ring Road 3 and the expressway network.
Along with the main elevated route, the parallel road is being synchronously constructed. According to the new roadmap, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project will open to traffic in sections from September 30 and strive to complete the entire route by the end of 2026.
Ring Road 3 HCMC has a total length of 76.34km, passing through HCMC, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh. When completed, the route will increase inter-regional connectivity, contributing to reducing traffic pressure and expanding urban, industrial, and logistics development space in the South.
