On the morning of August 27, a group of workers and many machines were compacting the roadbed and grading crushed stone to prepare asphalt for the road surface from Ton That Thuyet street connecting to alley 19 Duy Tan with a total length of about 165m.
The above road section belongs to line No. 1 of the Technical Infrastructure Construction and Connection Project of land plot D20 Cau Giay New Urban Area (Cau Giay district).
Route 2 has a starting point intersecting with Ton That Thuyet street and ending point connecting with lane 15 Duy Tan street with a length of more than 168m.
The project has a total investment capital of more than 38 billion VND, of which construction value is 11.9 billion VND, started in October 2020.
Initially, the project was planned to be completed after a year but until now it has not been completed when about 70% of the volume has been completed.
The project has been unfinished for many years, causing the road to be full of potholes, elephant holes, and sections with murky standing water.
People traveling by car or motorbike here must try to drive slowly, trying to avoid many hollows and manholes in the middle of the road.
The intersection with Ton That Thuyet Street is narrow, like a bottleneck , so motorbikes and cars have to squeeze together during rush hour.
Every time the project to build a road in front of the office gate is mentioned, Mr. Le Van Hoang (residing in Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) shakes his head in frustration, "I don't understand how people do business that takes so long to build".
"During the rainy season, the road becomes muddy. Many people, trying to avoid potholes, lose control of their steering wheel and fall, or collide with others, causing accidents," Mr. Hoang said.
Seeing machines and workers focusing on constructing the road recently, Mr. Hoang said he was very excited because he had been waiting for the project to restart for a long time.
"I hope the project will be completed quickly so that people can stop suffering from sun, dust, rain and mud like they have for many years" - Mr. Hoang said.
According to the representative of Cau Giay District Construction Investment Project Management Board, previously, the project was implemented with budget capital from Hanoi City. However, due to not being able to arrange capital and being affected by the COVID-19 epidemic... progress has been slow compared to the plan.
Recently, the Hanoi People's Council approved a plan to allocate capital for the project. Accordingly, the city allows Cau Giay district to temporarily use the district's budget capital to implement the project, then complete the dossier to get the approved budget source to compensate for the amount the district has spent. .
Currently, the contractor is arranging machinery and human resources to speed up the construction progress of project items.
According to the plan, it is expected that in the third quarter of 2024, the Technical Infrastructure Construction and Connection Project for plot D20 of Cau Giay New Urban Area will be completed and put into use.
Once completed, both road sections will have a cross section of 17.5m (road surface 7.5m, sidewalk 5m wide on each side).
