The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the policy of assigning the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Volunteer Force to temporarily keep vehicles at Area A of September 23 Park (District 1) to serve train passengers at Ben Thanh Station.
Urban Railway Company No. 1 is assigned to preside over and coordinate with the Urban Railway Board, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Technical Infrastructure Management Center and District 1 People's Committee to determine the location and scale to implement the parking lot in accordance with the actual situation.
Currently, all 10 elevated stations (except Suoi Tien Bus Station) have parking lots right below, making it more convenient for passengers to travel. In addition, there are 5 motorbike parking lots located next to the elevated stations of Van Thanh, Thao Dien, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long and Binh Thai to serve the people.
However, there are no parking lots at the three underground stations such as Ben Thanh, City Theater and Ba Son, so passengers have to park their vehicles at nearby shopping centers.
Metro Line No. 1 began commercial operation on December 22. According to Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1), after 5 days of operation, people have gradually become accustomed to using the train as a means of transportation to go to work, school and go sightseeing.
Ben Thanh Underground Station - the central point of Metro Line 1 is still the most crowded place for visitors to experience.
From December 22 to December 26, Metro Line 1 ran 940 trips, carrying nearly 467,544 passengers, reaching 255% of the plan.
Currently, people can experience Metro Line 1 for free for 30 days. From January 21, 2025, the Metro line will officially charge a fee of 6,000 to 20,000 VND/trip, depending on the distance.
Monthly passes for regular passengers cost 300,000 VND, while students only have to pay 150,000 VND. Unlimited rides for one or three days cost 40,000 VND and 90,000 VND respectively.
Approved in 2007 and started construction in 2012, Metro Line 1 is nearly 20 km long, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with the eastern gateway. The entire line has 14 stations, including 11 elevated stations and 3 underground stations, with a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND.
