The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B through Lam Dong province is being accelerated in construction progress. After lowering the elevation and adjusting the route direction, many sharp curves on Dai Ninh Pass have been expanded, making traffic for vehicles more convenient.
However, according to records, along the pass route, there are still 12 locations with potential landslide risks when heavy rain appears. Notably, in some areas where the route has just been adjusted and the road surface has been expanded, traffic safety assurance items have not been completed.
On the section from Km31 to Km52, many large open-air rocks appear on the positive taluy slope. When prolonged rain or landslides occur, these rocks may fall onto the road surface, causing unsafety for people and vehicles traveling.

Mr. Mai Hong Dang, Chairman of Phan Son Commune People's Committee, said that the locality has coordinated with the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province and the Central Road Project Management Board to conduct actual inspections and assess the level of risk at locations at high risk of landslides.
According to Mr. Dang, the locality has proposed to the investor to soon implement necessary technical solutions to ensure traffic safety on the route.
Regarding this issue, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang, Project Manager of Construction Package 2 under the Central Road Project Management Board, said that after field surveys, the Vietnam Road Administration and the project management unit have agreed on a plan to handle landslide-prone locations.
The implemented solutions include digging, creating taluy slopes, reinforcing with stone shield walls and completing the drainage system to reduce the risk of landslides in the rainy season.
Currently, the construction unit is focusing on handling all 12 locations at high risk of landslides on the section from Km42 to Km52, with a total length of about 1km. According to the plan, the remediation items will be completed before June 30, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province assessed that the progress of the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B is still slow compared to the requirements.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province, said that the locality has entered the rainy and storm season, the risk of landslides causing traffic congestion on National Highway 28B is very high.
The Department has requested the Central Road Project Management Board to proactively arrange personnel, vehicles and equipment to promptly handle arising incidents, ensuring smooth and safe traffic on the entire route" - Mr. Tien added.
National Highway 28B is considered the shortest route connecting Da Lat and Mui Ne areas, playing an important role in tourism development and goods transportation between the two regions.
Recently, after many sections of the route were expanded and asphalt paved, the traffic volume through Dai Ninh Pass has increased significantly. Therefore, accelerating the progress of handling landslide-prone points is considered an urgent requirement to ensure traffic safety.
