The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center (QLGTCC) has just sent a document to relevant units proposing to deploy buses to relieve passengers at Tan Son Nhat Airport during the 2025 Lunar New Year.
According to the proposal, two 30-seat buses will be arranged at the buffer zone in front of the International Terminal or at a suitable location arranged by the Southern Airports Authority and Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
When there is a request to clear passengers, the bus will operate on the following route: International Terminal - Domestic Terminal - Parking lot on Hong Ha Street - International Terminal.
The transfer service will be implemented in two phases: from January 23 to January 27, 2025 and from February 1 to February 5, 2025. Passengers will be able to use the service for free during this period.
To ensure effectiveness, the Traffic Management Center will establish a Zalo group "Bus - Quick feedback, passenger clearance" including relevant parties: Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, Southern Airports Authority, Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Traffic Management Center and Phuong Trang Futabuslines Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company.
Step 1: Tan Son Nhat International Airport monitors the number of passengers and sends requests for clearance to the Zalo group when necessary.
Step 2: The Traffic Management Center and Phuong Trang Company receive the request and immediately dispatch the vehicle. Phuong Trang Company will confirm via the application.
Step 3: After completing the journey, the bus will return to the parking location and notify “Completed” on the Zalo group.
The Traffic Management Center proposed that Tan Son Nhat International Airport arrange a convenient parking area for shuttle buses and provide information support for passengers. In addition, it proposed to waive airport entry and exit fees for vehicles participating in the service.
Airport staff will guide passengers from the lobby to the bus area, ensuring security and order.
It is expected that from January 14 to February 12, 2025 (December 15 to January 15), Tan Son Nhat airport will serve about 26,000 flights, with more than 4 million passengers, including 1.5 million international passengers and 2.5 million domestic passengers.
Currently, Tan Son Nhat Airport has 3 bus routes in operation, including: Route 109 (Saigon Bus Station - Tan Son Nhat Airport); Route 152 (Binh Chanh District - Tan Son Nhat Airport) and Route 72-1 (Tan Son Nhat Airport - Vung Tau).
