More than 6,000 workers constructing Long Thanh airport
On November 12, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that currently at the construction site of Long Thanh airport phase 1 project in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, there are more than 6,000 personnel and 2,700 construction equipment.
The packages under construction at the construction site have been inspected, supervised and accepted according to the project's technical standards, ensuring quality.
All materials such as foundation, stone, sand... are strictly controlled and tested according to technical standards before being brought to the construction site.
Up to now, the implementation of many bid packages has met and exceeded the contract schedule, especially large bid packages.
Package 4.6 for the construction of a runway with a contract value of more than VND 7,200 billion will start on August 31, 2023.
Currently, this important package has completed an actual volume of about 3,059 billion VND, equivalent to more than 42% of the contract value (more than 7,200 billion VND).
According to ACV, the Long Thanh airport runway is expected to be completed and put into technical operation before April 30, 2025, with the expected progress 3 months ahead of the contract.
Trial operation of the "heart" of Long Thanh airport before August 2026
Another important package is package 5.10 for the construction of the Long Thanh airport passenger terminal (also started on August 31, 2023), considered the "heart" of the Long Thanh airport project. Up to now, the actual construction volume value has reached about VND 10,110 billion, equivalent to 30.47% of the contract value (VND 33,185 billion).
The expected progress is to basically complete the construction part before December 2025 in parallel with the completion and installation of test equipment from the beginning of 2026 and strive to complete before August 31, 2026.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet - Deputy General Director in charge of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) - said that the investor is actively coordinating with contractors to deploy and maintain progress, determined to put Long Thanh airport phase 1 into operation by September 2, 2026.
Also according to ACV, package 6.12 for construction of traffic routes No. 1 and No. 2 connecting Long Thanh airport has so far achieved an actual construction volume value of about VND 1,321 billion, equivalent to 55.3% of the contract value.
Regarding the general progress, the construction units of Line 1 will complete in November 2025; Construction of the intersection of Line 1 and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway will be completed in August 2025; Construction of the intersection of Line 2 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway will be completed in October 2025; Completion of the project and handover for use will be completed in December 2025.
