Speaking at the event "Clean air for green sky" on the morning of November 1, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen affirmed that the city is implementing many synchronous solutions to control pollution, promote green transformation in the transport sector and spread an environmentally friendly lifestyle, towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
This event is not only a communication activity, but also a strong call for action "Act today, for the clean sky of tomorrow".
According to Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen, air pollution is one of the biggest challenges for public health and sustainable development. In Hanoi, emissions from transportation, construction, industry and urban activities are putting great pressure on the air environment, requiring drastic and long-term solutions.
To solve this problem, Hanoi has issued an Air Quality Management Plan to 2030 and Plan No. 267 to implement Directive 20 of the Prime Minister on preventing and handling environmental pollution.
Notably, Hanoi is implementing a roadmap for green conversion of public transport, with the goal of having 100% of buses using clean energy by 2030. This is a concrete step, demonstrating the strong commitment of the Capital in reducing emissions, while building a green and sustainable lifestyle for people.
In parallel with perfecting policies and technical infrastructure, Hanoi also strengthens monitoring, forecasting and publicizing air quality data, develops an early warning network and promotes propaganda to raise public awareness. People are encouraged to change their living habits and move more environmentally friendly.
Hanoi also supports the "Clean Air of Vietnam 2025" initiative initiated by UNDP and WHO, ready to pioneer coordination in implementing to contribute to the implementation of the national goal of improving air quality, protecting public health and sustainable development.
Every citizen, every business - through small actions such as using environmentally friendly means of transport, not burning garbage, planting more trees - contributes to making the capital's atmosphere cleaner, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized.
