Information from the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police said that on February 27, Road Traffic Police Team No. 14 coordinated with Railway Traffic Police Team No. 1 (Road and Railway Traffic Guidance, Patrol and Control Department - Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security) to organize patrols, filming, control, and handle violations of railway traffic safety and order on the Giai Phong - Ngoc Hoi route.
Functional forces focus on inspecting the compliance with traffic lights and barriers at level crossings with high vehicle density. Through inspection, dozens of violations were recorded, mainly acts of intentionally overtaking barriers when traffic lights have turned red.
Specifically, at about 8:40 am on the same day, at the Ngoc Hoi - Phan Trong Tue level crossing (Thanh Tri district), the task force discovered Mr. N.D. A (born in 1992, residing in Hanoi) driving a motorbike with license plate 29M1-784. xx overtaking the barrier when the red light had turned on. At about 10:30 am, at this location, functional forces continued to discover Ms. B.T. H. L (born in 1974, residing in Hanoi) driving a car with license plate 30H-724. xx violating with a similar act.
Representatives of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police said that, according to the provisions of Decree No. 100/2019/ND-CP and Decree No. 123/2021/ND-CP amended and supplemented, motorbike and motorcycle drivers who overtake level crossings when the barrier is moving or when the red light has been turned on will be fined from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND. For car drivers, the fine is from 4,000,000 VND to 6,000,000 VND, and they will also have their driving licenses revoked for 1 to 3 months.
The Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police recommends that people when participating in traffic through intersections with railways should absolutely comply with traffic light signals, barriers and instructions from functional forces; do not violate because of haste, posing a potential risk of particularly serious accidents.
