The project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan Street was approved by the People's Committee of Thanh Xuan District (Hanoi) in 2018, with a total investment of nearly 400 billion VND.
The project is 720m long, starting at the intersection with Nguyen Trai Street, ending at Lane 162 Nguyen Tuan, with a cross-section of 21m, including a 15m wide roadway and 3m wide sidewalks on both sides.
To implement the project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan Street, Thanh Xuan District will reclaim and clear 14,334m2 of land from 11 organizations and 160 households and individuals.
However, the Nguyen Tuan Street expansion project could not be implemented according to the original plan because many households did not agree to hand over the site.
After many times of propaganda and mobilizing people, it was not until November 2024 that the site clearance work for the Nguyen Tuan Street expansion project was basically completed.
After the site was available, the leaders of Thanh Xuan District People's Committee directed the Construction Investment Project Management Board and the contractor to deploy the steps to construct the project.
According to the Steering Committee of the Thanh Xuan District Construction Investment Project Management Board, many trees on the route have been relocated and cut down by authorities; the power line and telecommunication cables are also being relocated by the Project Management Board in coordination with related units.
Currently, the main work being implemented by the contractor on the construction site is the construction of a wastewater drainage system. The location is being implemented in front of the Institute of Industrial Ceramics and glass (Ministry of Industry and Trade).
According to this person, up to now, there is still a 2-storey apartment building (next to Son La Guest House) whose compensation plan has not been approved.
"From now until the construction of the drainage system to that location, the Project Management Board will coordinate with relevant parties to complete site clearance to hand over to the construction contractor" - said the leader of the Thanh Xuan District Construction Investment Project Management Board.
According to Lao Dong's records on the first day of March, machinery and personnel are being mobilized by the contractor to implement some items of the project.
Nguyen Tuan is an important route in Thanh Xuan District, with a large volume of people and vehicles participating in traffic, which makes the contractor have to both construct and ensure traffic.
The investor's representative said that according to the plan, the project will be completed in September 2025.
After being expanded, Nguyen Tuan Street will help reduce traffic congestion in the area, beautify the urban area, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Hanoi in general and Thanh Xuan District in particular.
