After Hung Yen and Thai Binh merged, Hung Yen province entered the stage of large-scale and synchronous infrastructure planning and investment. Many key projects in transportation, industry, services - society have been accelerated, demonstrating the determination to create a foundation for long-term and sustainable development.
Some projects have started construction, while others are in the process of completing investment procedures and site clearance. All are aimed at increasing inter-regional connectivity, exploiting existing potential, thereby improving competitiveness and the quality of life of people in the new development stage.
Below are the outstanding key projects implemented in the new Hung Yen province:
1. Tan Phuc - Vong Phan Road: Nearly VND3,000 billion invested to connect southern localities
The 29 km long route passes through the (old) areas of An Thi, Tien Lu, Phu Cu (Hung Yen), and is under construction with a total investment of nearly 3,000 billion VND. Expected to be technically opened to traffic on September 30, 2025, the route will contribute to improving transportation capacity, promoting the development of agricultural and urbanization areas in the South of the province.
2. Thai Binh coastal road: Accelerating completion, aiming for marine economic development
The 34.4 km coastal route passes through Thai Thuy and Tien Hai (old Thai Binh), with a total investment of VND4,800 billion. As of May 2025, the project has completed nearly 90% of the volume. This is an important project to expand development space, connect coastal areas with domestic economic centers and serve marine economic strategies.
3. Ring Road 4 - Capital Region: Key industrial - urban - service axes
The project is about 112.8 km long, passing through Hanoi, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh. The 19.3 km section through Hung Yen, with an investment capital of VND 5,200 billion, has currently deployed more than 50% of the contract value. This will be an important development axis, increasing regional connectivity, promoting urban development, logistics services, and clean industry in the new Hung Yen.
4. Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway: Capital requirements have been submitted, site clearance is ready
The railway line is 390 km long, the section passing through Hung Yen is nearly 17 km. By the end of June 2025, the province had submitted a capital request and organized a propaganda campaign on the scope of site clearance. The route is expected to promote inter-regional freight and passenger transport, reducing pressure on roads.
5. Heritage - tourism - economic connecting route along the Red River: Nearly 9,300 billion VND invested
The project is nearly 56 km long and is in the preparation stage. When completed, the route will connect cultural and spiritual heritages and economic development centers along the Red River, creating conditions for tourism - service development and preserving the cultural identity of the continental region.
6. Ngoc Hoi Bridge: Red River crossing project connecting Hung Yen with Hanoi Capital
The project has a total investment of VND 11,800 billion, about 7.5 km long (of which the section through Hung Yen is 2.1 km long). The province is currently completing investment procedures, striving to start construction on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 2025). Ngoc Hoi Bridge will help shorten travel time from Hung Yen to Hanoi's inner city, replacing the roundabout route through Thanh Tri or Vinh Tuy Bridge.
