Recently, the Hanoi People's Committee approved the project to expand National Highway 3 according to planning (the section from the National Highway 18 intersection to the road junction leading to Soc Temple) in Soc Son district.
The project has a length of about 6.7km, land use scale of about 35.7 hectares, belongs to group B project.
Total investment in construction and expansion of the route is about 1,482 billion VND, from Hanoi City budget. Project implementation progress from 2024-2027.
The following road expansion has a normal roadbed cross-section size of 52m. National Highway 3 will become an urban road, with a design speed of 80 km/h.
Hearing that National Highway 3, the section from National Highway 18 to Soc Temple intersection, is about to be expanded, Mr. Le Hoai Nam (Soc Son, Hanoi) said he is very excited that the bottleneck of congestion and accidents is about to be opened. pine.
Frequently traveling here, the 40-year-old male driver has witnessed many accidents on the arterial axis connecting Hanoi - Vinh Phuc.
"The road is narrow and there are many cars, so drivers like us have to pay close attention to observe. Because, with just a little mistake, collisions and traffic accidents can easily occur, especially at night." - Mr. Nam said.
Ms. Le Thi Ha (58 years old, Phu Linh commune, Soc Son) also strongly supports the city's policy of expanding National Highway 3 to soon resolve congestion and accidents on this route.
"Hopefully the project will be implemented on schedule so that people's travel will be convenient and the lives of households along the route will also have many changes" - Ms. Ha said.
Actual records of Labor on August 26 show that the cross section of National Highway 3 through Soc Son is currently only about 7-8m (both directions) with two lanes, no median strip.
When traveling in the same direction, the car behind must follow the car in front or encroach on the opposite lane if they want to pass.
The road surface has many uneven sections, some are patchy and rough, affecting people's travel . Every few kilometers on the route, a warning sign "accident-prone road section" is installed on the right side of the road for traffic participants to pay attention.
According to the People's Committee of Soc Son district, from 2021 until now, the current status of National Highway 3 is only a level 3 road (from 7-8m; no sidewalks, trees, unsynchronized lighting), relatively small and narrow. , often suffers from traffic jams during rush hours, not meeting the general transportation and development needs of the district.
Therefore, investing in expanding the route is necessary and urgent, contributing to completing the planned transportation network, helping to connect the central region of the Capital to the Northern provinces smoothly.
At the same time, create space to develop the central region of Soc Son district, gradually improve infrastructure, socio-economic development, ensure national defense and security of Soc Son district in particular and Hanoi city in general.
