On November 21, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that it had just reported on the results of ensuring traffic order and safety in 2024 and the direction and tasks for 2025.
In 2024, traffic order and safety in the province will be basically ensured; compared to 2023, the number of accidents, injuries and deaths due to traffic accidents will all decrease.
During the year, there were 321 traffic accidents in the province, killing 185 people and injuring 197 people. Compared to the same period in 2023: 17 fewer cases (down 5%), 33 fewer deaths (down 15.1%), 34 fewer injuries (down 14.7%).
According to the Standing Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh, the reason for the decrease in traffic accidents in all three criteria is that the Provincial People's Committee has directed and implemented synchronously and drastically solutions to ensure traffic safety and order (TTATGT) since the beginning of the year.
The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has coordinated with departments, branches, and social organizations to widely disseminate traffic safety laws and traffic culture to the people in a variety of forms, suitable for each target group.
In particular, strengthen the implementation of Directive No. 31/CT-TTg dated December 21, 2023 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the work of ensuring traffic safety for school-age children in the new situation.
The provincial police organized 33,956 traffic control patrols with 130,467 officers and soldiers participating, detected and made administrative records of 82,037 cases; issued decisions to punish 75,493 cases, and transferred to the State budget more than 137.1 billion VND.
The Department of Transport Inspectorate has issued nearly 250 documents related to specialized transport inspection and examination activities. It has organized 04 inspection teams according to plan, 44 regular and unexpected specialized inspection teams.
In 2024, Nghe An Traffic Inspectorate administratively sanctioned 620 violations; collected about 1.87 billion VND for the state budget, of which 355 cases were sanctioned for vehicle load control, with a corresponding fine of 878 million VND.
In addition, all levels and sectors have focused on directing the timely handling of existing problems and obstacles in site clearance and construction work to speed up the progress of important transport infrastructure development projects in the area.
The management of traffic infrastructure has been strengthened with many synchronous solutions to improve the efficiency of exploiting the traffic infrastructure system. Strengthen regular maintenance work on routes, focus on directing the handling and repair of damaged locations; speed up the progress and improve the quality of periodic repair works on authorized national highways and provincial roads, ensuring convenient and safe travel for the people.
The work of reviewing, counting and handling black spots and potential traffic accident spots is focused on and implemented regularly and drastically. In 2024, 8 black spots and 89 traffic infrastructure shortcomings were handled.
"In 2025 and the following years, Nghe An is determined to strengthen measures to ensure traffic safety, limit traffic accidents, and build a culture of traffic safety in the community," said Permanent Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh.
