The memorial service was held at Bai Dinh Pagoda (Ninh Binh). Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Hong Ha - Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee; and leaders of central and local ministries and branches.
According to statistics, every year, around the world, about 1.3 million people die and 50 million people are injured due to traffic accidents.
In Vietnam, in recent years, traffic accidents have always been controlled and reduced in terms of the number of cases, deaths and injuries.
However, in the first 10 months of this year, there were 19,711 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 9,061 people and injuring 14,685 people.
Responding to the "World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims" in 2024, the Memorial Ceremony for Road Traffic Victims was held to express condolences to the unfortunate people participating in traffic and share the loss and burden with their relatives with the message "Remembering the departed - For the living".
The memorial service serves as a chance for each of us to reflect on the unparalleled value of life and to share this awareness with our family and friends. It also highlights the critical importance of adhering to traffic safety laws.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha sent his deepest condolences to all families whose relatives unfortunately died in traffic accidents in Vietnam. At the same time, he requested all levels, sectors, organizations, and functional forces from the central to local levels to continue implementing more drastic solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of ensuring traffic order and safety. In particular, continuing to perfect regulations on criteria for compliance with traffic safety laws in recognizing cultural families, making culture in traffic participation one of the standard values of Vietnamese people.
Focus resources to expedite the development of modern, safe, smooth, and user-friendly traffic infrastructure projects. Promote the use of science, technology, and artificial intelligence in organizing, managing, and inspecting vehicles as well as in operating smart traffic systems. Conduct regular reviews to identify and promptly address weaknesses and bottlenecks in traffic organization. Enhance communication efforts to raise public awareness of traffic safety.
The Deputy Prime Minister called on each of us to be proactive and strictly comply with traffic safety laws, to cultivate a civilized and polite traffic culture, and to embrace a spirit of mutual care, readiness to yield, and assist each other while on the road. This will contribute to building a safer and more humane society. At the same time, we should take the initiative to help, share, and work together to ease the pain caused by traffic accidents to the victims and their families.
