On the evening of November 22, at 10/3 Square, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the formation and development of Dak Lak province (November 22, 1904 - November 22, 2024).
At this event, Mr. Ta Quang Dong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - announced the Prime Minister's decision to recognize the "Thac Hai Stone Drill Collection" as a National Treasure.
Thac Hai site (located in Ea Sup district) is an important archaeological discovery. It contains exquisite and unique artifacts. This site belongs to the late Neolithic period, dating back 3,000 - 4,000 years.
This is considered the only stone drill bit manufacturing workshop in the Central Highlands, demonstrating the remarkable development of stone tool manufacturing techniques in prehistoric times.
"The Thac Hai stone drill collection" not only has historical and cultural value but also opens up opportunities for more in-depth research on the lives of prehistoric residents.
The recognition of National Treasures marks efforts to preserve and promote heritage values, contributing to the development of Vietnam's archaeology industry.
On this occasion, the National Record Institute also announced 3 important records honoring the potential and advantages of Dak Lak province. These are records related to the fields of agriculture, forestry and tourism.
Accordingly, the whole province has the largest coffee growing area in Vietnam with a total area of 212,106 hectares. Thereby, Dak Lak is the coffee capital of the country.
Lak Lake, with an area of over 500 hectares, is a valuable water source and a famous tourist destination. Lak Lake is recognized as the largest natural freshwater lake in the Central Highlands.
Yok Don National Park is notable for its unique dipterocarp forest ecosystem, which contributes to biodiversity conservation. Yok Don National Park has the largest dipterocarp forest ecosystem in Vietnam.
