As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, the historic flood in September 2024 caused serious damage to the Thac Nhat suspension bridge (Dong Hy), disrupting the lives of hundreds of households on both banks.
After the reflection, the local government has urgently remedied the situation. Up to now, the bridge has been completely repaired, helping people travel safely and conveniently.
On June 4, the reporter noted that the previous broken and seriously degraded wind-rope cable had been completely repaired.
The bridge deck and railings on both sides have been reinforced and painted in sync. The anchorages and hangers are also tightly tightened, painted to prevent rust.
As a long-time tea trader, Ms. Pham Thi Tuoi (Dong Hy) excitedly said that since the Thac Nhat suspension bridge was repaired, people's goods transportation has become more convenient.
"The bridge has connected the two banks, the road to Trai Cai market is dozens of kilometers shorter. The rainy season is also approaching, so we can travel with great peace of mind now, and our business will be less difficult, Ms. Tuoi added.
Sharing the same joy, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Thuy - the bridge caretaker said that the Thac Nhat suspension bridge was repaired and completed about a month ago.
"After the bridge is repaired, I feel much more secure, no longer having to worry about people taking risks crossing the damaged bridge," Ms. Thuy shared.
The Nhat Waterfall suspension bridge crosses the Cau River, connecting the two banks of Dong Hy and Phu Luong districts. The bridge has a total investment of 6 billion VND. The project has a cable-stayed design, with a total length of 110m and a bridge surface width of 2m, completed and put into use in 2015.
Talking with reporters, Mr. Vu Van Mac - Chairman of the People's Committee of Minh Lap commune said that after a period of implementation, the repair and repair of the Thac Nhat suspension bridge has been completed.
The repair items include: Replacing the anti-sway system, repairing 3 damaged bridge surfaces, re-welding the railing welds... The total implementation cost is 500 million VND supported by the Provincial Relief Mobilization Committee.
The repair of the Thac Nhat suspension bridge not only facilitates travel and trade but also contributes to ensuring safety for people during the approaching rainy and flood season.
