On July 3, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh - Head of Vinh Station (Nghe An) - said that Vietnam Railway Corporation has approved a plan to connect more cars for 22 regular passenger trains passing through the area. Accordingly, each train will be increased from 12 cars to 15 cars, expected to serve nearly 200 more passengers per trip.
According to Mr. Thanh, summer is the peak tourist season, along with Vinh airport temporarily suspending operations for upgrading from July 1, causing the demand for railway transport to increase dramatically. The addition of cars not only meets travel needs but also contributes to stimulating railway transportation in the context of increased passenger numbers.

Currently, Vinh Station receives about 3,000 passengers/day and can reach 5,000 during peak season. The trains with increased coaches include SE1 to SE12, SE17 to SE20, SE23-SE24, NA1-NA2 and QB1-QB2.
It is expected that the option of connecting more cars will last until the end of 2025, when the airport will complete the upgrade. After that, we will assess the demand to make appropriate adjustments, Mr. Thanh informed.
Previously, from July 1, Vinh airport temporarily suspended operations for 6 months to upgrade runways and infrastructure. The railway industry is assigned to ensure the service of travel needs, avoiding overload and congestion of passengers.
