Under the scorching sunshine of the first days of April, the working atmosphere at the construction site of the East-West Economic Development Axis Road Project in Soc Trang is still bustling.
Hundreds of workers and engineers are working hard on every meter of road, every span of bridge, expressing their great determination to bring this key traffic project to the finish line on time.

Mr. Ho Nam Cao - Commander of the East-West Economic Development Axis Project - shared: "We are focusing all our efforts to implement in accordance with the close direction from the investor and leaders of Soc Trang province. During this final stage, the contractor has increased the maximum human and material resources, organizing continuous construction day and night to ensure progress, volume and especially the quality of the project".
According to Mr. Cao, important timelines have been drawn specifically. The contractor strives to complete all normal road sections and bridge foundations before April 30, 2025. The work of paving the entire road surface and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge will be implemented and completed before May 30, 2025. From June 30-30, 2025, the focus will be on completing auxiliary items, ensuring traffic safety and repainting the lines.
Information from the Project Management Board of Soc Trang province, after more than 2 years of implementation, the project has achieved encouraging results. To date, the roadbed and K95 sand layer have been 100% completed. Other important items such as K98 sand layer has reached 97%, type 2 crushed stone aggregate layer has reached 95% and about 30km of road surface has been paved with asphalt. In particular, the bridge system on the route has completed the installation of girders and poured concrete for all 44 bridges.
Mr. Huynh Phuoc Thai - Deputy Director of Project Management Board 2 - said that in order to achieve this progress, the contractors have mobilized maximum resources, strengthened equipment and expanded construction nose on the entire project length. The supply of materials is also focused to ensure that the construction process is not interrupted. The motto "3 shifts, 4 crews", "overcome sunshine, winning rain", "Eating enlisted, sleeping urgently" ... has been thoroughly grasped in the whole team.
The supervision consulting unit also plays an important role in regularly inspecting, urging, reminding and closely coordinating with relevant parties. All arising situations are promptly reported so that the investor can take measures to handle and support the contractor. Traffic safety, labor safety and environmental sanitation are always given top priority during the construction process.
The East-West economic development axis is more than 56 km long. The total investment is nearly 2,000 billion VND from the central budget and local budget counterpart. After being put into use, the project will connect the entire western area of Soc Trang province, directly connecting with Quan Lo Phung Hiep National Highway, Nam Song Hau National Highway and National Highway 1A - forming an internal and external traffic axis to serve the socio-economic development of Soc Trang province and neighboring areas.
