The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the Document of the Technical Support Project "Research on the renovation of Long Bien Bridge" using non-refundable aid from the French Embassy in Vietnam through the FASEP Fund of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The research project aims to propose solutions to ensure the safety of the structure and other uses of Long Bien Bridge in the future.
Accordingly, ensuring safety for people and vehicles using the project, including railways, two-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians; highlighting the heritage value because this is one of the typical locations of Hanoi City, a historical symbol and a part of the landscape of Hanoi for more than a century; research on future bridge use scenarios.
Regarding scale, the project consists of 3 components: Survey, data collection and analysis, assessment; propose solutions to renovate and repair Long Bien bridge in the short term to ensure traffic safety; research and propose a plan to use the bridge in the future when the national railway line across the bridge is stopped and handed over to the Hanoi People's Committee for management.
The project will be implemented in 11 months, expected to be completed in 2025. The total investment capital of the project is 19.9 billion VND.
