Require contractor to repair damage
On September 21, according to the Department of Transport of Kon Tum province, the unit requested the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic, Civil and Industrial Works of Kon Tum province to direct contractors to repair damage and subsidence on National Highway 14C.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that in 2022, 2023 and 2024, National Highway 19C through the border area of Kon Tum province was continuously damaged, with many potholes.
Bad roads pose many potential risks to traffic safety for people and vehicles. It is worth mentioning that the newly accepted packages that have been put into operation for more than a year have shown many signs of deterioration.
In September 2024, Mr. Vo Duy Hung - Deputy Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic, Civil and Industrial Works of Kon Tum province - requested the construction unit, Ngoc Viet Investment and Trading Company Limited, to urgently organize and arrange machinery, human resources, and equipment to repair a series of damaged locations on National Highway 14C. Regarding this incident, the Kon Tum Province Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic, Civil and Industrial Works has issued an ultimatum. If the company does not fix and complete the problem, it will report to the Department of Transport to use the project's warranty money to assign another unit to do it.
Many positions were invested in and repaired many times.
National Highway 14C is an important traffic route with a length of 566km. This route passes through the Central Highlands provinces along the border of Vietnam and Cambodia.
In Kon Tum province, National Highway 14C passes through Ngoc Hoi, Sa Thay and Ia H’Drai districts. The project to repair the roadbed and surface from km12+500 to km72 has a total investment of VND126 billion from the state budget. The project will be put into operation from March 2023.
In Gia Lai province, National Highway 14C running along the border through Duc Co, Chu Prong, and Ia Grai districts is also damaged. Every year, the provincial Department of Transport continuously invests in upgrading, maintaining, and repairing sections of the route.
For example, recently, in August 2024, Mr. Ha Anh Thai - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Gia Lai province - signed a decision approving the bidding documents, with an estimated price of 14.5 billion VND to repair damage to some locations on National Highway 14C.
In particular, at km107+00 - km111+00, National Highway 14C section through Gia Lai province, the investor requested the contractor to repair the road surface, drainage ditches and traffic safety system.
