Construction day and night on the large construction site
In the early days of June, the construction atmosphere at Lien Khuong airport was urgent, with the determination to bring the project to completion on schedule.
On the large construction site, hundreds of workers and machinery operate continuously according to the motto "three shifts, four crews", taking advantage of favorable weather to speed up progress.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trung, a runway construction worker, said that after completing his task at the Long Thanh airport project, he and many colleagues were transferred to Lien Khuong airport to work.
“The brothers are determined to do all the work, not all the time. The goal is to complete the project on schedule so that the airport can soon resume operation, serving the travel needs of the people,” Mr. Trung shared.
Up to now, many important items have achieved positive results. According to the Management Board of the project to repair the runway and taxiway of Lien Khuong International Airport, the auxiliary aggregate stone foundation item for the runway has been completed 100%; the underlying crushed stone layer has reached 98%, and the upper layer has reached about 96%.
The ground items of the runway, taxiway, material sidewalks and drainage system are also basically completed by over 90% of the volume. About 1.8km of runway has been completed.
Efforts to reach the finish line before August 25.
According to construction units, the most important and complex item currently is the construction of cement concrete for the runway surface. This is the structural part that directly bears the load when the aircraft takes off and lands, so the technical requirements are very high.
While the M150/25 cement concrete layer has been completed, contractors are focusing manpower and equipment to accelerate the construction progress of the M350/45 cement concrete layer.
ACC Aviation Construction Corporation currently achieves a concrete pouring capacity of 1,000 - 1,300m3/day. VINADIC and VINACONEX units also maintain a capacity of 400 - 600m3/day to ensure the overall progress of the project.
In parallel with infrastructure construction, technical equipment items are also deployed synchronously. All power cables serving the project have been fully gathered at the construction site.
The air traffic light system has completed ordering, and the remaining equipment is being completed procedures for installation according to plan.
The project management board said that there are currently 491 on-duty personnel at the construction site, of which 453 workers are directly involved in construction. For the contractor alone, ACC arranges about 300 workers to work continuously in shifts.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Management Board of the project to repair the runway and taxiway of Lien Khuong International Airport, the progress pressure in the remaining 2 months is very high.
However, with the support of the locality and the determination of the construction units, the project is being maximally focused on resources to be completed before August 25, 2026.
When completed, Lien Khuong airport will have more synchronous and modern infrastructure, contributing to improving exploitation capacity, meeting the increasing demand for air transport and promoting socio-economic and tourism development of Lam Dong.
