On December 14, information from the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province said that the unit had just had a working session with specialized agencies of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Transport to discuss the planning plan to expand Gia Binh airport.
Accordingly, immediately after starting construction of phase 1 of Gia Binh Airport project, Bac Ninh province arranged to immediately implement phase 2 with an expected scale of more than 400 hectares, upgrading the airport to become an airport.
Bac Ninh is focusing on developing a project to submit to the Government for approval of a supplementary plan to upgrade and build Gia Binh Airport into an airport, serving international diplomatic delegations, passenger and cargo transportation with a runway length increased from 3.05km to 4.5km to be able to accommodate the world's largest aircraft.
Phase 2 implementation is carried out concurrently with phase 1, striving to complete both phases by the end of 2025.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized: Bac Ninh highly appreciates the significance and importance of the Gia Binh Airport project and determined to implement 2 phases in parallel, in which, phase 2 is divided into 2 milestones with contents that need to be implemented immediately.
To ensure the project is implemented on schedule, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province requested the specialized agencies of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Transport to consider and agree on the maximum expansion area of the Airport, in which, the parts that can be left will not be included in the planning to minimize the impact on the surrounding area. Bac Ninh province will also have a specific plan to ensure the most favorable conditions for the airport's auxiliary activities.
Gia Binh District plans to measure maps, make statistics, and complete the site clearance plan before Tet, especially focusing on completing the relocation of graves in the project area to a new location before December 23; coordinate with the Department of Construction to survey the location of the cemetery relocation to a new location outside the planning area.
At the same time, focus on developing a plan to return the technical site and propose funding after the project to expand Gia Binh airport into an airport is approved.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province assigned the Department of Transport as the standing agency to coordinate with the consulting unit and the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Public Security in completing the Project. The Department of Construction coordinates with the consulting unit of the Ministry of Public Security to review locations to build logistics projects and inland waterway port systems to meet the development needs to become an international logistics center by both air and waterway.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province also requested that from now until January 30, Gia Binh and Luong Tai districts urgently submit documents for approval of the District Regional Planning, to ensure progress in implementing the next tasks.
Earlier, on the morning of December 10, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Gia Binh Airport, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested relevant agencies to quickly deploy phase 1 of the Gia Binh Airport Project, and immediately complete documents and procedures to implement phase 2.
