Many provinces and cities have announced the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule. Up to now, Kon Tum is the place with the longest Tet holiday for students. The Tet holiday schedule for students in this province starts from January 24 to February 7.
Including the two weekends after the end of the holiday, Kon Tum students have a total of 17 days off for Lunar New Year.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the 2025 Tet holiday schedule for students has just been adjusted from 9 to 11 days compared to the original plan.
According to the explanation of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the holiday was extended by two days compared to the original plan to allow students to have more time with their families and participate in cultural activities during Tet.
Currently, the Tet holiday schedule for students in each province is specified in the school year schedule. However, the holiday schedule can be adjusted to suit actual conditions. The holiday schedule of each locality is not the same, ranging from about 11 to 17 days. The holiday time also differs because it can be combined with Saturdays and Sundays at the beginning and end of the holiday period.
On the parents' side, there are many comments about students' Tet holiday schedule.
Ms. Do Phu Thao (from Thanh Hoa), currently living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, shared that every year, she often wants her children to return home for Tet early and extend the holiday. However, with the Tet holiday not being too long, the family has many inconveniences in booking tickets and arranging travel to optimize the holiday time.
"I want a long Tet holiday because this is an opportunity for the whole family to go out together, maybe go back to the countryside, or take advantage of both going back to the countryside and traveling somewhere. During the summer, the children have a break but the parents still have to go to work, so it is very difficult to arrange" - Ms. Thao said and suggested that the summer vacation should be shortened and the Tet vacation should be increased, about 3 weeks is reasonable.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hang (Cau Giay district, Hanoi) thinks that the current Tet holiday schedule is enough because in many families, parents still have to go to work and their children are at home with no one to look after or take care of them.
"Students can take a month off for Tet, middle school and high school students can take two weeks off because if the break is too long, it will be difficult to return to studying. Especially for senior students, after Tet there are many important exams. As for primary and preschool students, they should take Tet according to their parents' schedule" - Ms. Hang shared.
