As of 6 p.m. on February 1, at the intersection between the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway access road and Km1717+593 of National Highway 1 through Ham Kiem Commune, Ham Thuan Nam District, Binh Thuan Province, the Traffic Police force was still temporarily closing the access road to the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway at the Ba Bau intersection. The temporary closure of the expressway access road began at around 3 p.m. the same day.
This is also the peak time for cars from the Central provinces, cars of tourists traveling to Phan Thiet returning to Ho Chi Minh City and wanting to enter Ba Bau intersection to get on Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway. However, the traffic police have regulated these cars to go straight on National Highway 1.
Many cars stopped at a nearby gas station to rest, and many cars lined up on Ham Kiem - Tien Thanh street opposite the highway entrance to wait until traffic was allowed to resume on the highway.
Traffic on Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway in the North - South direction is quite heavy. However, at Ba Bau intersection, vehicles still travel normally on the expressway, without congestion or slow movement.
