Currently, Binh Thuan has 3 expressways Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Cam Lam - Vinh Hao passing through. The total length of expressways passing through the entire Binh Thuan province is 160km.
Of which, the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao section is about 12km long, the entire Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet route is about 100km long and the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay route is about 47km.
Since being put into operation, the expressway sections have shortened travel time from Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai to Binh Thuan and the South Central Coast provinces.
At the same time, it will overcome traffic congestion, reduce frequent traffic accidents, and solve the need for passenger and cargo transportation between localities in the key economic zone. It is more convenient for Binh Thuan people to travel to Ho Chi Minh City, taking only about 2.5 hours.
Mr. Pham Quoc Hung - Director of the Statistics Department of Binh Thuan province acknowledged that since the highway passed through Binh Thuan province, more tourists have come to Binh Thuan for tourism because of the convenience.
This is one of the factors that will help Binh Thuan's tourism industry grow in 2024, contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development.
The number of tourists in 2024 is estimated to reach 9,657,000, bringing in tourism revenue for the whole year of 2024 of VND 25,826.5 billion, both of which increased by 15% compared to the previous year.
Although the highway sections running through Binh Thuan province have created a convenient traffic axis, many drivers also said that the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway has a road surface of 4 lanes but does not have an emergency lane, only emergency stopping strips spaced 4-5 km apart.
And the maximum speed on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway is 90 km/h, which is quite slow. The problem of rest stops on the highway sections has also been basically solved.
From January 20, 2025, the rest stop on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway at Km47+500 (section bordering Dong Nai - Binh Thuan) and the rest stop on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway at Km205 (Ham Tri Commune, Ham Thuan Bac District, Binh Thuan) have been temporarily put into operation to serve the needs of stopping to rest and use the restroom of people traveling on the expressway.
Smooth traffic, convenient freight transport, and time-saving for tourists to Binh Thuan are the “sweet fruits” that can be reaped when the highway runs through the entire province. In particular, the connected traffic infrastructure has attracted investors to develop the three pillars of the local economy.
