Lam Dong - In addition to the landslide in the morning, Gia Bac Pass continued to have 2 serious landslides, completely paralyzing traffic.

On the afternoon of October 30, Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Dien Commune (Lam Dong) informed that when the forces had just finished repairing the landslide at km 59 of National Highway 28, Gia Bac Pass had 2 other landslides.

The two landslides that just occurred at around 5:20 p.m. the same day also occurred at km 59 of Gia Bac Pass, National Highway 28. There were 2 more large-scale landslides.

Each landslide point is 30 - 40 m long, causing hundreds of tons of rock and soil from the hill to collapse and bury the road surface.

The landslide also caused many large forest trees with diameters from 0.4 - 0.6 m to fall across the road.

Along with that, at km 42 and km 50 on National Highway 28, the landslide and subsidence situation is complicated due to prolonged rain.

The landslide completely paralyzed traffic in both directions on National Highway 28 through Gia Bac Pass.

"Currently, the People's Committee of the commune has mobilized more than 50 people including police, militia, and people to approach the scene to coordinate with the Traffic Police of Lam Dong Police and the road management unit to overcome the consequences.

Two excavators have also been mobilized to the scene to handle the landslides, said Chairman of Son Dien Commune People's Committee Vu Duc Nhuan.

According to the leader of Son Dien commune, due to the large amount of soil, rocks, and forest trees falling onto the road at the two landslides that just occurred, the locality is coordinating with the Traffic Police force to block off the road.

The locality has also reported to Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to direct the donation of forces and means to coordinate in overcoming landslides on Gia Bac Pass.

Although the forces have been making great efforts, it is certain that tonight, the work of handling and overcoming the two landslides will be difficult to complete.

It is expected that if it does not rain, the landslide repair will be basically completed by 7:00 a.m. on October 31 to reopen traffic.

It is known that during the process of overcoming the landslide, a militiaman of Son Dien commune was hit by a tree branch while cutting down a tree, causing injuries.

As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper: Due to prolonged heavy rain, from October 27 to now, Gia Bac Pass on National Highway 28 through Son Dien Commune has had landslides 3 times.

According to statistics, there have been more than 12 landslides on Gia Bac Pass. During each landslide, this pass is almost completely paralyzed.

Gia Bac Pass is more than 10km long on National Highway 28 connecting Son Dien Commune with Ham Thuan Bac Commune to National Highway 1A. In the opposite direction, National Highway 28 connects with National Highway 20 to Da Lat and Ho Chi Minh City.
