From the afternoon of February 15 to the evening of the same day, traffic on National Highway 28B - the top of Dai Ninh pass (Phan Son commune, Lam Dong province) was congested, cars lined up in long lines.
Mr. Nguyen Duc - a driver traveling on National Highway 28B in the afternoon of February 15, said that on the top of Dai Ninh pass, there is a section of road surface with gravel, causing low-chassis, small cars to skid.
Vehicles lined up in long lines to wait for traffic, while the traffic volume during Tet peak period was very large. Many drivers joined forces to support pushing cars past the flat tire position.
According to Project Management Board 5 (Ministry of Construction) - the unit organizing the management of the National Highway 28B upgrade and renovation project - said that at Km41 - the section under construction to excavate and adjust the route, the contractor previously spread a layer of aggregate stone to create a flat surface for temporary traffic.
However, in recent days, the traffic volume has increased, especially heavy trucks, causing the aggregate layer to peel off, the road surface to be damaged, and small vehicles to be difficult to move. Large vehicles continue to circulate, causing rapid degradation, leading to prolonged congestion.
Previously, on February 14, Dai Ninh pass also experienced continuous congestion. Due to the peak travel season during the Lunar New Year, the Traffic Police force and local police coordinated to divert traffic and guide vehicles to other directions to reduce traffic flow for National Highway 28B.
It is expected that on February 16, the construction unit will level the entire peeled grade layer to soon restore temporary traffic. After that, continue to deploy upgrading and renovation according to the design.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B through Lam Dong province is about 68km long, with a total investment of 1,435 billion VND. The starting point is at National Highway 1A (Luong Son commune), the ending point is at National Highway 20 (Ninh Gia commune).
