On January 22, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province said that site clearance work to hand over the construction of the National Highway 28B upgrade and expansion project has made new progress, increasing the length of the route by 2.4km compared to the end of November 2025.
This is considered a positive sign in the context that the project is entering the final stage of progress.

According to the Department of Construction, so far localities have handed over land to investors for 67km/68km, reaching 98.5% of the total route length.
The remaining 1km has not been handed over due to obstacles, including 500m from the intersection with National Highway 1 in Luong Son commune and 500m of local land related to 20 households scattered on the route.
Regarding compensation and support work, out of a total of 979 cases affected by the project. To date, 913 cases have been approved for plans, reaching more than 93%.
Some localities such as Song Luy and Phan Son communes have completed 100% of the approval of the plan, payment and handover of land to the construction unit.
However, the remaining cases are mainly concentrated in sensitive locations, requiring more time to review dossiers, land origin and funding allocation plans.

On the construction site, contractors are simultaneously deploying many items. The construction volume has reached about 57km/67km for crushed stone grade and about 50km for asphalt concrete paving.
The Department of Construction assesses that construction output has increased compared to the end of 2025, but in general, the progress has not yet met the set requirements. The main reason is that some contractors have not fully focused manpower, equipment and materials according to commitments.
The construction volume is assessed to have increased compared to the end of 2025, but in general, the progress has not yet met the requirements because some contractors have not fully focused manpower, equipment and materials," emphasized the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Construction.

Faced with this reality, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Vo Ngoc Hiep requested relevant units to focus highly, ensuring the goal of completing the project no later than March 31, 2026.
Mr. Hiep also noted that the delay in approving compensation plans for the remaining cases may lead to the risk of not having time to allocate funds to pay people.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Land Fund Development Center and localities to urgently complete dossiers and pay compensation money before January 31. At the same time, he requested investors and contractors to accelerate construction and ensure traffic safety, especially at elevated bridge sections during the Lunar New Year.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B has a total investment of more than 1,435 billion VND, a length of about 68km, invested by the Vietnam Road Administration, Project Management Board 5 directly manages.
The project started in April 2024, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 according to the initial plan and has been extended by the Ministry of Construction until the end of March 2026.
This is a project that attracts the attention of people after the merger of the province and this is also the shortest route to go from Phan Thiet to Da Lat.
