Ministry of Industry and Trade informs about goods not yet reduced according to gasoline prices

Representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that not all points of sale fully supply all types of gasoline and the price of each type of gasoline may be different.

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the second quarter of 2026, reporters expressed concern about the fact that many gasoline and oil selling points have different selling prices; at the same time, each gas station may have many different types of gasoline such as E10 RON95-III, E10 RON95-V gasoline with different selling prices.

Answering this question, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hien - Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Management and Development Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that there are still many different types of gasoline on the market. Previously, consumers could choose items such as E5 RON92, RON95 gasoline and some other types sold at each store according to regulations.

However, according to current regulations on gasoline and oil business, the Ministry of Industry and Trade manages prices for popular consumer goods on the market. To date, two bio-gasoline items are in circulation: E5 RON92 gasoline and E10 RON95 gasoline.

According to Ms. Hien, implementing Resolution No. 29 of the Government on piloting making E10 RON95 gasoline a popular consumer item to regulate prices, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has selected this item to implement regulation. Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hien said: "Currently, popular consumer items on the market include E10 RON95 and E5 RON92 gasoline".

According to a representative of the Domestic Market Management and Development Department, the reality at the retail gasoline and oil system shows that E10 RON95 gasoline currently accounts for about 94-95% of consumption output. Meanwhile, E5 RON92 gasoline is still being traded by some stores but is no longer popular.

For items with low consumption output, gasoline and oil businesses will base on actual needs to arrange sales at each store. Therefore, not all points of sale fully supply all types of gasoline and the price of each type of gasoline may be different.

In addition to market management, Ms. Hien said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is continuing to complete the Draft Decree replacing decrees on gasoline and oil business.

According to Ms. Hien, this is a document with a wide scope of adjustment and complex content. To date, the draft has gone through four rounds of taking opinions from Government members. In June, the Ministry of Industry and Trade completed the fourth explanation, and at the same time continued to improve the draft in the direction of reducing administrative procedures, reducing intermediaries and reviewing and reducing key petroleum business units.

After the direction of the Standing Deputy Prime Minister, on July 1, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continued to complete the draft according to the direction, and at the same time consulted relevant ministries and sectors before submitting it to the Prime Minister for consideration in July.

Regarding price management, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that according to the provisions of the Price Law, ministries and sectors are assigned to manage prices of goods and services according to the functions and tasks of each agency. For the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the scope of management focuses on items such as gasoline, oil, electricity, gas, coal and steel.

Over the past time, there have been opinions that when gasoline and oil prices decrease, the prices of many other types of goods and services have not decreased correspondingly. However, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that it is only assigned to manage a number of items within the scope of functions according to the provisions of the Price Law, while many other items are under the management responsibility of other ministries and sectors.

Regarding gasoline and oil, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the conflict in the Middle East has caused world gasoline and oil prices to increase abnormally, leading to fluctuations in domestic gasoline and oil prices. Implementing the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the Ministry has synchronously implemented management solutions to stabilize the gasoline and oil market, contributing to supporting inflation control.

In the most recent adjustment period on July 2, domestic gasoline prices fell lower than the level of February 26 - the time before the conflict in the Middle East occurred. Oil prices also fell to approximately the level of February 26, although the current price level is still being supported by tax policies.

Faced with the reality that gasoline and oil prices have decreased but many other types of goods and services have not been adjusted accordingly, at the meeting of the Steering Committee for Price Management, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang requested ministries and sectors managing the field to strengthen inspection, supervision and review the causes of this situation.

Implementing the above direction, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has requested functional units to strengthen inspection of compliance with price regulations for items under management. In the first 6 months of the year alone, the market management force conducted 1,202 inspections of price listing and selling according to listed prices, mainly in the field of gasoline and oil; administrative violations were fined more than 1.3 billion VND.
