It is always priced higher than other types of crab of Ca Mau province.

Explaining the reason for the high increase in crab prices in the days leading up to Tet, purchasing points said that market demand is entering its peak to serve the Lunar New Year's Eve party and exports, especially the Chinese market is increasing sharply.

Although the price exceeded the 1 million VND/kg mark, orders from Ho Chi Minh City and northern provinces still poured in continuously, sometimes not enough goods to supply.
The sharp increase in crab prices has brought great joy to crab farmers in the province. However, this season, the number of red crabs is not as large as in previous years due to erratic weather, crabs come up to the net slowly.
High income from crabs in the days leading up to Tet helps many families shop for a more prosperous Tet and have capital to invest in the next crop.
Ca Mau is considered the "crab capital" of Vietnam with an farming area (mainly intercropping shrimp) of more than 364,000 hectares by 2025. Annual sea crab production reaches over 36,500 tons, bringing great economic value and being oriented to become a strategic commodity.
