On September 19, Gia Lai Department of Industry and Trade said that along with appraising, approving, and approving investment policies for a series of wind power projects in the area, the unit is also proposing issues related to the power quality of two large-scale wind power projects.
The Cho Long Wind Power Plant and Yang Trung Wind Power Plant projects with a total capacity of 250.5 MW have been completed.
Both projects were approved by the Electricity Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) for the inspection results of the acceptance of the completion of construction items on January 22, 2026.
However, both wind power projects with the above total capacity have not been put into commercial operation. The reason is that the total "voltage harmonic wave deformation" exceeds the permitted limit according to regulations but the cause has not been determined.
The Department of Industry and Trade advised the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee to request the Ministry of Industry and Trade to continue directing relevant units to consider and record the results of the power quality testing of the plant.
At the same time, assigning the investor to be responsible for continuing to coordinate with relevant units to conduct tests, additional measurements and collect data, analyze and evaluate to determine the cause, thereby implementing technical solutions and definitively handling problems.
Implementing the adjusted Power Plan VIII, projects in the province achieved implementation progress with 91/110 projects, total capacity of 4,924/5,501 MW, accounting for 89.5% of the total allocated capacity.
