The increased number of people caused local congestion on some roads to tourist destinations. Hotels, homestays, and guesthouses are all operating at full capacity.
According to accommodation area owners, the room segment under 1 million VND/night is chosen by many tourists.
Room rates for 3-4 star hotels and resorts range from 1.7 million VND/night; 2-star hotels are about 900,000 VND. Affordable guesthouses from 300,000 - 500,000 VND/room/night. Many families who do not book rooms before Tet have difficulty finding accommodation.
Mr. Le Anh, representative of Thao Nguyen Resort, Thao Nguyen ward, said that 150 rooms and 5 villas have been fully booked before Tet. "From the 4th day onwards, there are no empty rooms left. It is predicted that in the coming days, customers will continue to increase," Mr. Anh said.
Similarly, Ms. Luong Thi Hong Tuoi, owner of Hoa Moc Mien homestay, Moc Chau ward, said that right from the 2nd day of Tet, the number of guests has increased sharply.
Our homestay has been fully booked since the beginning of February of the solar calendar. Many tourists are subjective and do not book in advance, when they arrive, most accommodation facilities are full," Ms. Tuoi shared.
According to Ms. Pham Tu Uyen, Vice Chairwoman of Thao Nguyen Ward People's Committee, the beginning of the year is the tourist peak of Moc Chau. Demand is increasing, especially when images of Moc Chau plateau tourist destinations are widely shared by tourists on social networks, contributing to attracting more people to come.
Not only Moc Chau, Ta Xua is also overloaded.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, owner of Dinh Ta Xua homestay, informed that the facility was fully booked before Tet.
Especially on the 4th and 5th, the number of guests increased sharply, homestays had to hire local workers to serve meals, clean rooms, and support guests.
Mr. Vu Van Trieu, a taxi driver in Ta Xua area, said that customers gather to visit the "dinosaur spine", grasslands, dolphin rocks and lonely trees. "I drive continuously but still cannot receive more customers," he said.
Mr. Do Van Xiem, Chairman of Ta Xua Commune People's Committee, informed that the whole commune currently has 171 tourism service business establishments. Among them, there are 88 households doing community guesthouse business, meeting about 1,500 guests/day and night.
During Tet, the booking rate at establishments reached 100%. At the same time, due to the large number of tourists, some roads to attractions were congested.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duc and his family went to Ta Xua for spring travel but did not book a room in advance. "I looked for many homestays in the commune center and they were all fully booked. Fortunately, in the dinosaur spine area of Y Xoa homestay, there were guests who had just checked out, so the family had a place to rest," Mr. Duc said.
Statistics from wards in Moc Chau and Ta Xua highlands show that from the 1st day of Tet to now, Moc Chau and Ta Xua have welcomed more than 20,000 tourists, nearly double compared to the same period last year.
However, with the sudden increase in the number of guests, many accommodation establishments have not been able to meet all the demand, leading to a "room shortage" situation that lasts for a long time in the early spring days.
