Lorena Blanco - one of the prominent faces of the Spanish fitness village, was discovered unconscious at her home in Lugo, Galicia (Northwest Spain) on the morning of July 26.
She was quickly taken to the hospital but did not survive. The incident happened just a few months before she was scheduled to attend the Ms. Olympia 2025 Sports Tournament in Las Vegas (USA) next October.
Blanco's sudden passing at the age of 36 has made experts and fans question her training intensity, as well as her health condition, especially related to heart function.
The family and relatives held a funeral for Lorena Blanco on July 28, limiting media access.
The regrets quickly spread on social media. IFBB Pro League Hungary shared their emotional gratitude: "You are a miracle. Your kindness has touched the hearts of all those who have been by your side. The team will always miss you. See you again on stage in heaven".
Another fitness trainer, Sam Garcia, wrote: "It's hard for me to believe. I have always admired Lorena, not only because she is a great athlete, but also because of the strength, passion for life and the splendor she shows in everything she does."
Some sources suspect that heavy exercises and strenuous exercise regimens may have overloaded the athlete's heart. This is not an isolated case, because professional fitness has recently witnessed many worrying sudden deaths.
In just the past few months, two other body athletes have passed away on suspicion of heart attack. Jose Mateus correia Silva (28 years old) suddenly died in November 2024 while practicing in Aguas Claras, Brazil.
Previously, in September 2024, Matheus Pavlak - a teenager athlete - was also found dead at his home, with the cause believed to be related to cardiovascular problems.
