Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Pham Kim Dang - Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) emphasized that over the past 8 decades, the Vietnamese animal Husbandry industry has had strong development steps, reaching many impressive milestones.
Vietnam's pig farming industry ranks 5th in the world in terms of the number of pigs and 6th in terms of output, the herd of star apple ranks 2nd in the world, the fresh milk output ranks 3rd in Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, industrial feed output (TACN) will reach 21.5 million tons in 2024, leading Southeast Asia and ranking 12th globally.
In particular, Vietnam is the first country to successfully produce the African swine fever vaccine, exporting veterinary medicine to more than 45 countries with a turnover of hundreds of millions of USD, creating livelihoods for about 6.5 million farming households and contributing 2527% of agricultural GDP.

However, the Deputy Director also stated that the Vietnamese livestock industry is still facing many major challenges. The epidemic is becoming more and more complicated on a large scale, while livestock farming is heavily affected by climate change and natural disasters.
In addition, the small-scale livestock farming rate is still high, lacking linkages along the value chain with nearly 50% of output coming from farming households. Sources of animal feed and antibiotics still depend heavily on imports. The centralized slaughter system accounts for a low proportion, and the processing products are not high. The management of livestock databases, traceability and forecasting supply and demand markets is still limited.
Therefore, with the theme "Promoting science and technology, innovation and digital transformation for sustainable development of the livestock industry", Vietstock 2025 will be an opportunity to introduce, learn, share, discuss and propose solutions to develop the livestock industry, modernize, sustainably raise livestock, apply science and technology and digital transformation to management, governance, build technical processes to improve productivity, increase added value and protect the environment.

Representative of the Organizing Committee - Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thao said that the Antibiotic Resistance Forum will be held for the first time at Vietstock 2025 with the theme "From policy to practice - Solving the problem of antibiotic resistance together". led by leading experts, the forum will provide valuable practical knowledge and action strategies in line with international efforts in the context of the Vietnamese and regional livestock industry facing an increasing threat from antibiotic resistance.

"The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine is committed to accompanying businesses, farmers and partners in implementing the Livestock Development Strategy and the National Strategy on Drug Prevention and Control 2023-2030 towards a modern, green and sustainable livestock industry," Mr. Pham Kim Dang affirmed.
