Recently, the Vietnam Livestock Association has sent a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on recommendations for developing dairy materials.
According to Dr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Chairman of the Vietnam Livestock Association, our country can completely develop the livestock industry and process milk from domestic raw materials using its own methods and methods.
However, in recent years, due to the overheating development of the Vietnamese milk market, an explosion of too many brands, milk products and dairy products on the market, imported milk materials have "massively" disrupted the market, overwhelming domestic raw materials, leading to a situation where consumers do not know which milk products to choose to ensure quality. More harmful is the decreasing growth rate of domestic dairy cows, especially cows in household livestock farming areas, many traditional dairy farming areas are on the path of bankruptcy such as Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Vi, Moc Chau, etc. Of which, the dairy herd of Ho Chi Minh City alone decreased by over 50%.

Faced with this situation, the Vietnam Livestock Association has proposed 4 solutions to develop the Vietnamese dairy industry. In particular, it is recommended to minimize the import of raw materials that can be produced domestically.
In addition, it is necessary to develop a school nutrition program using fresh milk products, as the experience of many countries around the world has been very successful, both helping children get the best source of nutrition and promoting the development of domestic livestock. At the same time, it is necessary to perfect standards and technical regulations to stipulate transparency, clarity, and ease of distinguishing between dairy and dairy products, especially between fresh milk and water milk, so that consumers know in their choice of use and the producer, trader, and management agency.
In addition, it is necessary to consider introducing regulations requiring milk production and trading establishments to have areas or be associated with domestic raw milk areas, or to use at least 100% of fresh milk materials in the water.
"The Vietnam Livestock Association respectfully requests the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, and the Minister of Health to direct competent authorities to unify viewpoints and solutions for comprehensive development of the Vietnamese dairy industry in the process of developing strategies and policies and laws to implement the Vietnamese dairy industry strategy, sustainable development for the highest goal of public health and domestic production", Dr. Nguyen Xuan Duong shared.
