In a small room of less than 20 square meters on the second floor, Ms. Tran Bich Tuyen (25 years old, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) introduced us to hundreds of stuffed animals made from wool, with diverse designs and colors updated according to current youth trends.
Pointing to the Capypara wool teddy bear on the shelf, Ms. Bich Tuyen said enthusiastically: “This is one of the teddy bear models that is causing a fever on the market. I make this model in all sizes, from a few centimeters to nearly 1 meter.”
Ms. Bich Tuyen shared that before that, she learned knitting from Youtube, mainly making wool hair clips and sweaters for her family members to use, or selling them cheaply to some acquaintances to earn extra income. After that, she received many compliments and positive feedback from users, so in July 2023, she decided to start a business with a capital of only 750,000 VND.
Realizing the attraction of doing business on e-commerce platforms, Ms. Bich Tuyen proactively researched and started selling in this form. During the process of doing business on social networks, she received many orders from customers with new and “hot trend” teddy bear models, so she also researched every day to improve her skills.
Currently, Ms. Tuyen's facility has produced more than 100 models of woolen teddy bears, ranging from small to large sizes, with designs that keep up with customer trends and tastes.
Ms. Bich Tuyen said that on average, she sells about 4,000 - 5,000 products per month, peaking during pre-holiday and year-end occasions. The products are sold at prices ranging from 20,000 - 350,000 VND; specially ordered products with "huge" sizes cost up to several million VND. Typically, the Capypara teddy bear is nearly 1m tall with a selling price of more than 3 million VND, which she made within 1 week to complete.
Over time, Ms. Bich Tuyen's business has seen an increasing number of customers placing orders. Currently, Ms. Bich Tuyen has recruited more than 30 workers, mainly students and housewives, to process wool products, thereby ensuring the quantity of products delivered to customers on time, while creating jobs for everyone to earn an additional income of 1 million VND to more than 5 million VND/month. Thanks to that, Ms. Bich Tuyen has a revenue of nearly 90 million VND/month.
Having just graduated from university and looking for a job, Ms. Truong Bao Nhi (Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City) was introduced by a friend to Ms. Tuyen's facility, where she was trained and received orders to process wool keychain products. "Every month, I make about 300 - 600 products, earning an income of 3 - 4 million VND," said Ms. Nhi.
Similarly, wool processing also helps Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh (Cai Rang District, Can Tho City) earn nearly 4 million VND/month, enough to cover daily expenses while looking for a job. This is also a job that has supported women in the area.
