Growth efforts
Right from the beginning of the year, Thanh Hien Co., Ltd. proactively implemented solutions to maintain growth in the context of volatile markets. The enterprise focused on restructuring production, optimizing costs and expanding the market to create a solid foundation for the whole year.
According to Mr. Dao Hong Quan - Production Director of the company, in 2026, the enterprise is expected to promote technology investment, upgrade production lines towards automation and energy saving.
In addition, expanding export markets continues to be an important strategy. Businesses actively seek orders in Asia, the Middle East and Europe, taking advantage of free trade agreements to increase competitive advantages.
Data from the Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance), the industrial production index in January 2026 is estimated to increase by 21.5% compared to the same period last year mainly due to improved orders and more working days in January this year than the same period, in which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 23.6%. The industrial production index in January 2026 compared to the same period last year increased in all 34 localities.
According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, the processing and manufacturing industry is one of the important pillars in Vietnam's economic development strategy.
This is an industry that not only contributes to GDP growth but is also the foundation for improving national competitiveness in the context of globalization and international integration" - Deputy Minister Tan emphasized.
Still depends on imports of components and raw materials
Although achieving many positive results, Vietnam's manufacturing industry development model is still limited, especially the localization rate in key industries is not high and still depends on the import of components and raw materials. Therefore, shifting from extensive development to intensive is one of the key tasks in the coming period.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, although Vietnam has had impressive growth in industrial production, most domestic industrial products are still mainly intermediate products with low added value, especially in industries such as electronics, automobiles and mechanical engineering.
Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade sets a target that by 2030, the proportion of processing and manufacturing industries will account for about 28-30% of GDP, with a focus on developing high-tech industries, green, low-carbon industries and gradually shifting from low value-added production stages to higher value-added stages in the global value chain.
This will not only help improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese industrial products but also create a solid foundation for the country to participate in international markets with high-tech products, instead of just exporting raw materials or processed products" - Deputy Minister Tan emphasized.
In addition, according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, one of the important strategies of this period is to promote digital transformation and innovation in the manufacturing industry. The Ministry of Industry and Trade encourages businesses to invest in research and development (R&D), apply new technologies and boldly invest in core technologies. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is actively improving the policy environment and administrative procedure reform, helping businesses easily access resources, including finance and technology.
In the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade identifies two important highlights: building a supporting industry development program for the 2026-2030 period and operating modern technical centers. In particular, the inauguration of the Technical Center for Supporting Industrial Development at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park is a specific step to concretize the strategy of building an innovation ecosystem.
These efforts not only help reduce processing content but also directly promote Vietnamese businesses to participate more strongly in the global value chain; towards the goal of making Vietnam a country with modern industry, making substantial contributions to GDP growth through intellectual content and domestic added value" - Deputy Minister Nhat Tan emphasized.
