There have been more than 50 channels/ portals on social networks that proactively remove fabricated, distorted, and slanderous content about Vingroup

According to Lao Dong, less than 24 hours after Vingroup announced the lawsuit against 68 domestic and foreign organizations and individuals who posted false information about the group on the Internet, more than 50 channels/ portals on social networks (MXH) proactively removed fabricated and distorted clips and content.

The above 50 channels/pages belong to social networking platforms such as Facebook, Tiktok, Youtube... Among them, some are on the list of 68 subjects being sued by Vingroup.

Among the 50 account owners above, some have proactively posted public apology and correction content on their personal channels/ pages; others have sent apology letters to Vingroup and authorities.

For example, the BLV D.C BDS channel (with more than 74,000 followers) posted a video with the content of correction and an apology. The YouTube channel account owner informed the channel: I am not the expert or economic intellectual that people often think. I am just an ordinary citizen. I like to tell stories and share information, and chat about the economy every night with everyone. Sending an apology to everyone. In the past, I have posted 15 videos related to Vingroup.

Due to my lack of understanding of the economy, I took sources of information as well as data from foreign newspapers such as Asia Times, Reuters and some articles and videos online, compiled them and gave my personal views. Today, Vingroup officially sued 68 organizations and individuals for reporting false information. Although I did not know if I was on that list, with the awareness and responsibility of a Vietnamese citizen and an information communicator, I reviewed the entire video I had talked about Vingroup.

According to the owner of this channel, when reviewing the posted videos, the channel owner clearly saw two violations related to Vingroup's lawsuit request.

Specially, I have had two videos talking about the 800,000 billion debt. Due to limited financial knowledge, when reading newspapers and listening to analysis videos, I could not clearly distinguish the two concepts of total debt and debt. leading to incorrect comments. And there is a video talking about recent decrees that are somewhat favorable to Vingroup, but in fact, these decrees are good for the entire private economic sector, not just the corporation.

I would like to clarify that everything I say in the videos is subjectively compiled from online sources and the available articles I have accidentally fabricated and are the victims of those articles. Many sources I have relied on have been thought to be reputable but are inaccurate, even with incorrect citations. I had put too much faith in the spread on the internet that I had forgotten the most important thing, which was to verify from the official press in the country.

I would like to clearly affirm that I do not have any bad purpose to defame Vingroup or any individual and do not accept any benefits from spreading this information or being lured by other organizations or individuals to do this, completely due to my lack of understanding of the economy and finance. Although the channel information has been reminded and stuck to a personal point of view, people should learn more about the official newspaper before news or sharing. But I still realize that does not erase my responsibility.

Therefore, today I made this video to officially correct and apologize. Apologizing to Vingroup Corporation, the leaders and staff were affected. I apologize to all audiences who have followed the channel but received unverified information.

Apologizes to the community for contributing to the spread of fake news. To fix this, I immediately took the following actions. Remove all videos related to Vingroup that I suspect have incorrect content. I will keep this corrected video public forever so that everyone can clearly see my good reason. Commit to using only sources from mainstream press, authorities and transparent documents.

Commit to completely stop violations and not repeat violations. Although I do not know if I am on the list of lawsuits, I first hope Vingroup and the audience will recognize my good judgment in remedying the situation. I am not afraid but ready to cooperate and take responsibility for my mistakes. This is an invaluable lesson.

It reminds me that in the information age, each content creator must practice caution and responsibility. And people should learn and follow official information articles from the State and corporations. Once again, I would like to sincerely apologize to Vingroup, to my audience and hope for sympathy. I pledge to seriously change the way of doing things, strictly verify so that from now on, my videos will truly bring true value to the community - owner of BLV D.C BDS channel shared.

Currently, according to records, many information pages are taking steps to review and proactively clean up bad, toxic and untrue content about Vingroup. This is a positive trend, showing the immediate effectiveness of Vingroup's lawsuit and reporting of false information to the court and authorities.

How does the court handle cross-border lawsuits for conduct of false information?

The case of Mr. Vuong Pham - CEO and I Buy Beauty LLC (headquartered in the US) suing Mr. Phil Dong (living in Canada) is considered a typical example of handling cross-border lawsuits for conduct of false information.

From January 2022 to October 29, 2022, Mr. Phil Dong, residing in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada - a YouTuber who often makes videos in Vietnamese towards the overseas Vietnamese community, posted hundreds of videos and articles on many YouTube channels, LinkedIn, GoFundMe fundraising site and Change.org petition page, publicly making many accusations against Mr. Pham and Fastboy.

The main accusations include money laundering, fraud, appropriation of customer credit card data, selling data to hackers, manipulating reviews on Google/Yelp review sites and Mr. Vuong Pham is an illegal immigrant.

Mr. Vuong Pham is the CEO of I Buy Beauty LLC ( Fastboy Marketing brand) headquartered in Texas, USA. The company operates in the field of marketing and provides sales points systems to nail and salon locations in the United States, Canada and many other countries.

Mr. Vuong Pham and I Buy Beauty LLC sued Mr. Phil Dong and said that Mr. Dong's statements were completely untrue, causing serious damage to personal honor, business reputation and business operations.

On June 3, 2022, Judge Brongers issued an emergency temporary measure of containment, forcing Mr. Dong to immediately stop posting and remove all violating content. The defendant did not comply and continued to publish many more defamatory videos.

In August 2022, the plaintiff requested to handle Mr. Dong for the act of contempt for court. On August 29, 2022, the Court issued an arrest warrant. On October 29, 2022, Mr. Dong was detained and only after his release on conditional terms in October 2022, did he remove most of the violating videos.

In July 2023, Mr. Dong was sentenced to 18 months in prison with a suspended sentence. The court affirmed that the defendants' statements (Mr. Dong) were seriously defamatory, certainly reducing the plaintiff's prestige in the eyes of reasonable people. Directly targeting Mr. Pham and Fastboy Company, it cannot be considered as targeting other subjects. It was publicly announced, attracting hundreds of thousands of views on the Internet.

The defendant could not prove that the statements were true, nor did he meet the conditions of "fairness of speech". The court also blamed Mr. Dong for the audience's comments under the video, because he had full control but did not stop him, and even gave him a response to cheer him on.

The court's decision requires Mr. Dong to compensate for general damages: 250,000 CAD, increased compensation: 50,000 CAD, compensation for penalties: 50,000 CAD. Total: 350,000 CAD (Cantional Dollar)

In addition, the Court issued an Order to permanently ban the plaintiff from continuing to post or publish any defamatory statements against the plaintiff, with the same conditions as emergency prevention measures in 2022.
