On the morning of August 2nd, in Da Nang, the international scientific conference "Ngoc Linh Ginseng - From national product to global brand" was held, gathering more than 200 domestic delegates and more than 60 international experts and organizations to exchange views on conservation, research, processing and market development for Ngoc Linh Ginseng.
At the workshop, city leaders said that medicinal herbs are identified as an important area in the development strategy of the health and agricultural sectors. In which, Ngoc Linh ginseng is a unique and rare medicinal herb, prioritized for development into a national product, aiming to build a competitive brand in the international market.
According to the Project on developing a pharmaceutical industry center, Da Nang is oriented to synchronously develop raw material areas, scientific research, production, processing and commercialization of products, taking Ngoc Linh Ginseng as the main crop. Currently, the city has about 1,500ha of Ngoc Linh Ginseng cultivation along with a research system, businesses and favorable ecological conditions to develop the pharmaceutical industry.
Within the framework of the workshop, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu received and worked with Dr. Yang Deok Chun and a delegation of experts, businesses and representatives of Korean ginseng associations. City leaders hope that experts will continue to support and share experiences so that Da Nang and Vietnam can develop the ginseng industry in a modern direction.
Korean experts highly appreciate the potential of Ngoc Linh ginseng, and at the same time believe that it is necessary to preserve gene sources, expand growing areas, strengthen the application of science and technology and invest in deep processing to increase added value. In addition, the construction of specialized research institutes, regular organization of international forums and strengthening cooperation between governments and businesses of the two countries will create a foundation for Ngoc Linh ginseng to gradually affirm its position in the global market.
