There needs to be a solution to enhance the reputation of durian in Dak Lak
The entire Rong Pac district (Dak Lak) currently has 8,100 hectares of durian, with an estimated harvest in 2024 of 92,016 tons, the highest in the province. The district also has 37 durian growing areas for export with a total area of 2,053 hectares. Of which, Ea Yong commune accounts for 1,255.3 hectares, the largest in the district.
The locality also has 13 packaging facilities granted export codes to China. However, management work has encountered many difficulties when some representatives of growing areas and packaging facilities are not permanent in Dak Lak, causing obstacles for inspection and supervision.
Moreover, there are no specific sanctions to handle violations in managing growing area codes, causing many limitations in maintaining quality. Many establishments after being granted codes have not fully complied with plant quarantine regulations and have not implemented measures to clean up pests.
Some durian shipments exported from Dak Lak have been warned for not meeting food safety requirements. In addition, businesses and packaging facilities are still confused in customs clearance procedures, affecting export progress.
Therefore, it is necessary to have synchronous solutions to raise awareness, tighten management of growing area codes and support businesses in the export process. Thereby, to ensure the quality and reputation of Dak Lak durian in the international market.

Overcoming shortcomings and problems
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Pac district, Mr. Y Djoang Nie, said that the district will conduct an inspection and assessment of all export durian growing area codes, overcoming problems in the management and use of codes.
The district is determined to handle violations, suspend exports or propose revoking codes for growing areas that do not comply with regulations, lack cooperation in production organization and do not have management records.
The district will also supplement and fully update information and documents according to the instructions of the province and the Central Government to ensure compliance with regulations on export growing area codes.
