On August 16, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee announced that the unit had issued a directive on the production and consumption of durian in the 2025 crop.
Accordingly, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee requires departments, branches, localities and enterprises to implement synchronously to ensure harvesting, processing and consumption meet export standards.
2025 is identified as a crop of special significance, when durian becomes the main agricultural export industry, after Vietnam signed a Protocol with China on the export of fresh and frozen durian.
However, in reality, there are still some shipments that are warned for violating plant quarantine regulations (xanth worm) and food safety (calimi remainder, Gold O substance).
To maintain the reputation and brand of durian in Dak Lak, the Provincial People's Committee requires strict compliance with the production, harvesting, preliminary processing and packaging processes. Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and wards must strictly control new planting areas to avoid "hot" development that causes imbalance in crop structure.
Units managing growing area codes and packaging facilities must prevent early harvesting, ensure ripeness to standards; violations will be strictly handled.
The Department of Industry and Trade is assigned to coordinate in inspecting purchasing activities, preventing price pressure, and at the same time promoting trade promotion, connecting consumption through retail and e-commerce systems.
The State Bank of Vietnam, Region 11 Branch, directs credit institutions to prioritize capital for the production, processing and export of durian.
For growing areas, packaging facilities and export enterprises, the directive emphasizes the requirement to strictly comply with technical procedures, plant quarantine and food safety; absolutely do not use O-Gold.
The province only allows exports when 100% of products from the growing area to the packaging stage are controlled, to avoid being warned or temporarily suspending the growing area code from China.
Currently, Dak Lak has about 40,000 hectares of durian, of which the harvested area is about 26,600 hectares, the expected output is 392,000 tons (an increase of 30,000 tons compared to 2024).
