Dak Lak builds a linkage chain to maintain durian's export market

Dak Lak - Maintaining and building a substantive link between farmers, cooperatives and businesses will help local durian maintain its export market.

On September 15, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province said that in the 2026 crop year, the province's durian output is expected to reach about 500,000 tons, the highest level ever.

Faced with increasing output, the locality is focusing on building a substantive link between farmers, cooperatives and businesses in the durian value chain. Thereby, gradually improving the quality and value of products and creating a more solid foothold for Dak Lak durian in the market.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chien, Director of Tan Lap Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative, Po Drang commune, Dak Lak province - a unit participating in durian production linkage - said that businesses, cooperatives and farmers need to regularly sit down to assess what has been done, the shortcomings and limitations, thereby identifying the causes and finding solutions together.

According to Mr. Chien, if the production process is not controlled, households that do well and households that do not comply with the process standing together in a chain will be disadvantageous to serious producers, and at the same time reduce the motivation to improve quality.

Therefore, businesses and farmers need to have a common voice, share responsibilities and aim for sustainable development goals.

From a business perspective, Ms. Ngo Tuong Vy, General Director of Chanh Thu Group Joint Stock Company, believes that each link in the agricultural product linkage chain must be continuously improved.

Businesses need to clearly convey the standards of importers and customer requirements to traders, cooperatives and farmers so that all parties understand what criteria products need to meet.

Each business needs to build and develop its own ecosystem, going deep into each stage, including consulting and supporting farmers to improve product quality. When each business changes its thinking and improves the quality in its ecosystem, each link will contribute partly to raising the value of Vietnamese durian," Ms. Vy said.

Not only focusing on production and linkage, expanding export markets is also creating more momentum for the Dak Lak durian industry.

Previously, in August 2026, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) approved nearly 200 durian growing area codes and packaging facilities of the province.

The approval of additional planting area codes and packaging facilities is assessed to create favorable conditions for growers as well as businesses to purchase and trade durian in the 2026 crop year, while expanding access to export markets.

In addition, the locality has implemented the "30 days and nights" campaign to review, digitize and standardize durian growing area code data and packaging facilities.

This is considered an important solution to improve traceability, increase transparency of the industry and gradually shift from administrative management to data-based governance, contributing to the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW.
