Dak Lak - Nearly 200 durian growing and packaging area codes of the province have been approved by the Chinese side, allowing exports.

On August 20, Mr. Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, confirmed that the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) has just approved nearly 200 durian growing area codes and packaging facilities of the province.

According to Mr. Van, GACC's approval of nearly 200 planting area codes and packaging facilities at this time creates great favorable conditions for growers as well as businesses to purchase and trade durian in the 2026 crop season.

To ensure that fruit exports to the Chinese market are smooth, sustainable and do not affect the reputation of Vietnam's agricultural exports, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, has requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province to notify in writing the growing areas and packaging facilities with codes that have just been approved by GACC.

Specialized agencies request localities to strengthen management and supervision of planting areas and packaging facilities in accordance with regulations.

Units with approved codes are also guided to strictly comply with Vietnamese regulations and requirements of importing countries.

In which, establishments need to inspect shipments before exporting, ensuring they are not contaminated with plant quarantine objects that China is concerned about, and at the same time fully meet the requirements for plant quarantine and food safety.

The approval of nearly 200 durian growing and packaging area codes of Dak Lak by GACC is expected to expand official export opportunities, creating favorable conditions for the consumption of durian in the locality in the 2026 crop year.

In the 2026 durian crop year, Dak Lak province has about 45,000ha, with an estimated output of about 500,000 tons.

The General Department of Customs of China has approved 140 planting area codes with an area of more than 14,321ha and 31 packaging facility codes with an area of 91,135m2 (capacity of 5,470 tons/day) for Dak Lak province.
