Ninh Binh province is currently focusing on investing in the Ninh Binh Power Plant project with a total capacity of 1,500 MW. Of which, phase I is 300MW and phase II is 1,200MW.

According to Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Cao Son, the expected investment scale for the construction of the Flexible Power Plant Phase I, with a capacity of 300MW with an area of about 8 hectares, and a fuel port of about 9.9 hectares in Kim Dong commune is expected.
The line connecting to the safety corridor affects about 29 hectares. The total investment capital is about 7,100 billion VND from non-budgetary capital, project implementation progress in 2025 - 2027.
Up to now, the project has completed procedures on power planning VIII, power planning VIII, Ninh Binh province planning, land use planning, construction planning and port planning.
In addition, the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province has also requested Power Generation Corporation 3, Thuan Hai Transport Service Joint Stock Company, Ninh Binh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company - JSC, Ninh Binh Power Transmission, to closely coordinate with local departments, branches and sectors to implement investment procedures and procedures to build Ninh Binh Flexible Power Plant and relocate Ninh Binh Thermal Power Plant.

Ninh Binh province is making efforts to speed up the project implementation progress, striving to generate half a capacity of electricity by the end of 2027, the beginning of 2028 and 100% of the capacity by 2029. After the plant comes into operation, it will stop operations and relocate the current thermal power plant.
