Demand for more than 9 billion kWh of electricity in eastern Ho Chi Minh City
On March 25, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Finance to organize a conference on solutions for electricity supply and services with customers in export processing zones and industrial parks in the eastern area of the city (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau).
It is expected that in 2026, industrial - seaport - logistics load operations, oil and gas services and tourism - trade load of the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City will maintain positive growth; GRDP in the region will continue to grow steadily, leading to increased electricity demand, especially for industry and logistics. In addition, the forecast of prolonged hot weather in the Southern region also increases household, commercial - service loads. It is estimated that the electricity industry must supply over 9 billion kWh (an increase of about 7% compared to the same period in 2025) to the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City to ensure demand.
