According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper at the end of June 2025, the Muong Thanh Market and Trade Service Project construction site (Muong Thanh Tourist Market - in Muong Thanh Ward, Dien Bien Phu City) is rushing to construct the final items.
With a total investment of more than 193 billion VND, on an area of 1.8 hectares, after about 19 months of construction, the project is gradually taking on a new, spacious and modern look.
At the construction site, about 150-200 workers and many machines were mobilized to construct technical infrastructure items, kiosks, landscapes, drainage systems, etc.
A representative of NQT Quang Ninh Trading and Construction Joint Stock Company - the project investor said: "The general technical infrastructure including leveling, transportation, power supply and drainage systems has completed 90% of the volume. The items of the market kiosks have also reached 95% and are in the final stages of completion".
The investor added that the technical infrastructure items will be handed over in August; the kiosk area and market communal house will be completed in the third quarter; the commercial service areas are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year. When completed, the project will meet the standards of the first Grade I market in Dien Bien province.
The project started in November 2023, belonging to group B projects; level III civil purpose works (markets); level IV technical infrastructure works; level IV traffic works. The project's operation period is 50 years (calculated from the date the investor is decided to allocate land, decide to lease land, decide to change land use purpose).
This project is one of the projects started on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 2024). However, site clearance is still facing many difficulties, so it is not possible to build on schedule according to plan.
The project has outstanding items such as: Muong Thanh Market with a scale of 2 1-storey communal houses (area of 2,689m2); 1-storey auxiliary area, management board house (construction area of 245m2); 3-storey kiosk lot (construction area of 2,990m2) and kiosk surrounding the market (construction scale of 3.5 floors with a total area of over 2,700m2).
In addition, there is the DV01 service area (commercial and service works, landscape trees); the DV02 service area (oldscale of 5 floors) and the DV03 service area (oldscale of 5 floors).
When completed, Muong Thanh Tourist Market will help improve the aesthetics, improve spontaneous business problems, improve the environment of the existing market area, build a new place to supply goods, food, provisions... to people in the area, create jobs for hundreds of individual households participating in trading and exchanging goods.
With its location close to famous destinations such as A1 Hill, Muong Thanh Bridge, Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum... Muong Thanh tourist market is expected to attract tourists to visit and shop.
