In the urban development strategy towards shifting from a unipolar to a multipolar model to reduce economic dependence on tourism - services of Da Nang, Lien Chieu has taken advantage of its convenient transport gateway position, well-invested seaport and logistics system to transform into a key industrial economic center of the region that can develop all 3 spearheads: Industry, Seaport and Tourism.
One of the most important drivers of this shift is the Lien Chieu Port project - a type I deep-water port, which plays an important role in connecting the international East-West economic corridor, and is the gateway to the Central region.
The project started in December 2022 with a scale of 450 hectares, with a total estimated investment of more than 48,304 billion VND. The port is divided into three phases: phase 1 has an area of 44.6 hectares expected to be completed in 2025, the remaining two phases have an area of 106.81 hectares and 80.7 hectares expected to be completed in 2030 and 2050 respectively.
At the same time, Da Nang is promoting the development of a free trade zone associated with Lien Chieu port. According to the planning objectives, by 2030 this area will contribute about 1–2% of the city's GRDP and attract about 21,000 workers. By 2040, the expected contribution rate will reach 9.5% of GRDP with about 90,000 workers; and by 2050, it may account for nearly 18% of GRDP, creating jobs for more than 127,000 workers.
Not only playing the role of logistics and trade center, Lien Chieu is also an area with many large industrial parks in Da Nang. Lien Chieu Industrial Park with a scale of nearly 290ha is considered one of the important large industrial parks of Da Nang City.
In addition, a series of industrial parks in the Northwest such as Hoa Khanh, expanded Hoa Khanh, Hoa Cam... are forming a large-scale production - technology area, likened to the city's new "silicon valley".
According to experts, the effect from the planning vision will spread to economic sectors, including urban development.
Reality shows that Lien Chieu is currently one of the areas with a large population of Da Nang with nearly 220,000 people, not to mention the source of high-quality labor and experts expected to increase following the FDI wave pouring into the free trade area in the future. This poses an urgent requirement for the development of modern and synchronous urban infrastructure, meeting the increasing real housing needs.

The appearance of large-scale urban projects is contributing to shaping a new face for Lien Chieu.
Prominent is the multi-functional megacity The Lumia Da Nang with a scale of nearly 70ha, owning a construction density of only 48%, and dedicating more than 20 hectares to green trees and water surfaces. For the first time in the Da Nang market, a multi-functional low-rise product line named home2hub is launched, promising to open an ideal space for smart investment and business at the Northwest gateway of Da Nang.
Located in a strategic location, adjacent to the extended Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal arterial road, adjacent to the free trade area and Lien Chieu port, The Lumia Da Nang project quickly became the focus to welcome the wave of population migration and planning for the development of a key satellite urban area of Da Nang in the period 2025-2030.
According to Resolution No. 10-NQ/TU of the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee, by 2030, Lien Chieu will become a civilized and modern city, a key point for tourism, services, trade, finance and the coastal economy of the city.
Long-term vision and a series of projects being implemented methodically are gradually affirming Lien Chieu's position as a new key economic point, becoming a place to settle down and invest sustainably in a livable city.
