Urgent construction of boilers
The focus is currently the installation of the Backs - the "heart" of the Factory, which is being accelerated, along with a series of other important items being urgently completed and ready for synchronous implementation in the coming time.
At Long Phu 1 construction site, the construction atmosphere is heating up every day. The Long Phu 1 Oil and Gas Power Project Management Board (PMU) closely coordinated with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) to install the Boiler for both sets of engines 1 and 2.
The first structures and pressure equipment have been erected, the main equipment has been continuously gathered and moved to the installation site. The two large tower cranes for construction have just been completed, preparing for the next stages.
All equipment installation and supervision work is led by a team of engineers and experts from the Project Management Board and PTSC, on the condition that there is no presence of foreign experts from the designer and manufacturer.
This shows the proactiveness, internal capacity and high sense of responsibility of the implementing units. Up to now, the installation items have all met the requirements of technology, safety and progress.
It is expected that both Aircraft will be completed and tested in the second and third quarters of 2026, ensuring the progress of generating Group 1 in the third quarter and Group 2 in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The peak construction speed has caused the team of officers and engineers on the construction site to often work overtime, working through noon and on weekends to keep up with important progress milestones. The working spirit of "not enough day, take advantage of working at night"; "working day at night, working extra days off" - as the Prime Minister once directed in key projects - has truly become the motto of the Project Management Board's team.
Sharing about the current progress, Mr. Ha Dinh Nien - Head of Long Phu 1 Project Management Board said that in parallel with the implementation of the boiler project, the Board has basically completed the issuance of bidding documents for the main packages of the project.
Some packages have selected contractors, such as chimney packages, fire prevention and fighting packages, administrative housing packages, and warehouses, expected to be signed in July and deployed in August 2025. The entire contractor selection work is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025 and simultaneously constructed at the construction site from the fourth quarter of 2025.
At the same time, negotiations with existing OEMs have also achieved many positive advances. Most subcontractors expressed their goodwill to continue providing equipment for the Project and were willing to share costs and risks with the Investor.
This is a key and important factor that helps Petrovietnam make the most of existing materials and equipment, limit design changes, avoid adjustments - thereby ensuring progress, quality and the factory's operation goals by the end of 2027.
Internal energy and spirit make movement
One of the major advantages of the Long Phu 1 Project today is human resources. The Project Management Board brings together a team of engineers with extensive experience in the field of thermal power. Many people have been attached to Long Phu 1 since the early days, thoroughly understanding each item of the Project.
In addition, new personnel from successful projects such as Vung Ang, Quang Trach, Van Phong... have brought valuable practical experience to contribute to the next success in Long Phu 1.
The spirit of change is not only demonstrated in the progress of the construction site, but also spread strongly within the team. Many officials who had left the project when their work was temporarily quiet have now returned with a new mindset, determined to work together to bring the project to the finish line. Long-term commitment and a high sense of responsibility create a unanimous team, ready to overcome all difficulties ahead.
In particular, the attention and strong direction from the leaders of the Vietnam National Group of Industry and Energy (Petrovietnam) is a great source of motivation for the team on the construction site. Professional meetings, inspections, and progress urging are organized regularly to promptly remove difficulties and provide maximum support to the Project Management Board throughout the implementation process.
In the overall picture of the development of Vietnam's energy industry, NMND Long Phu 1 is one of the key projects. The project's acceleration and entering the construction phase is actually a positive sign showing Petrovietnam's efforts in ensuring national energy security. Under the close direction of the Group, along with the strong spirit of the Project Management Board and contractors, Long Phu 1 is gradually realizing the goal of power generation by 2027.
